Everyone here is putting two up front, I've done it myself but upon reflection, I'm not sure we really want to be using two up top in a European away game. A draw here won't be a bad result because no matter what happens, we'll still be second in the table, so what about this team?

                      Mignolet

      Manquillo  Skrtel  Lovren Moreno

                Hendo      Gerrard

        Markovic   Lallana    Sterling

                       Balotelli

I'd also be inclined to rest Sturridge for this one and gamble on Sterling and Markovic having enough pace in the side to hit Basel on the counter attack because we have West Brom at the weekend and then the international break. Rest him for this, give him 30 minutes at the weekend and we can safely pull him from International duty after which he should be fresh as a daisy and ready to be our goal machine again. The European game, especially an away fixture, should be better suited for Markovic and Balotelli than the Premier league currently is.

I think this will be an incredibly tough game, and I'd bite yer arm off for a point here and now.

A win would be good, starting to forget what that feels like! Let's smash these and be done with it, put our selves in a good position going into the Madrid game.

We need a performance that is packed with energy, pressing and pace.
      Have to get a win.

      Manquillo
      Lovren
      Skrtel
      Moreno
      Gerrard
      Henderson
      Lallana
      Sterling

This will be the game that turns our season around.

Yes, my feeling too. Need to win this to get the confidence up again after what was a decent if not great display against the bitters.
I'm Going for a 2 - 1 win for us.   1-0 down, and 2 goals from Studge off the bench.

Basel will be no pushovers. But for some reason fancy us to get a point at least.
Deserved better by all accounts on Sat (though I missed it) and seemed to control the game in the main.
Just need to keep it tight at the back early on, not do a F***ing West Ham and be two down before we know what's hit us.
We've had a good start in the CL, we can be relatively confident, let's keep our good record in the competition going ...

This game is a big one for me, and its essential we get ourselves a win. I think we will put a strong squad out also, but I fear Studge won't make it in time... Maybe on the bench?

Im not confident about this one.

Basel normally come out all guns blazing and we like to play ourselves into games so unless we start aggressively we will find ourselves a goal down before we even start playing.

I want to see an aggressive assertive performance rather than the wishy washy rubbish we have seen so far.

Daniel Sturridge out of Liverpool's trip to Basle through injury. Mamadou Sakho is fit but has been left out of the squad.

It's a really tricky one this one. They beat Chelsea both home and away last season, but then lost to Shalcke at home and got trashed by Real. They're an unpredictable team so we have to be careful...but not give them too much respect.

Same line up as Saturday, but Couts instead of Markovic for me.

Sakho in Rodgers bad books. And rightly so. If he has one more hissy fit like he did on Saturday he is gonso.

Maybe Rodgers is losing it too and making some really bad decisions.

Such as? I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you. I'm just interested in which decisions you thought were bad.

Although he and Jordan Williams are with the senior squad I'd imagine they're going to be playing with the u19's who also play Basel tomorrow in the EUFA Youth Cup.

Who's the tool with his tongue out like he's on his first school tour?
      Wait, Lovren.

Looks like a Manquillo & Moreno bromance is blossoming.
