If Basel had of committed more people forward on corners or had a few better touches they would be beating us no end.

I really dont mind when we lose, if we show heart, try hard and play well. This is lethargic, lacking confidence and effort.

I don't think any of us mind if we show heart, but sadly we're like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz!

I'm beginning to think that when Suarez left, he took the confidence of the team with him! Good God we need a win!
      .

That's exactly what happened. Luis was the catalyst. He gave everyone the spark of enthusiasm. We are currently missing said enthusiasm.

That c**t Ronaldo had a penalty saved and dived for another. 1-1.

Win here would be vital if that result stays.

Im not seeing anything that suggests Balotelli is better than Lambert or Borini.

No movement. No great hold up play. Slow. Not working harder than Borini does. NO GOALS.

Markovic just shoot from edge of the box. Otherwise he is good today.

Basel not impresed, we just need more concentration in attack and nick that goal

Don't be silly Balo has been our best player today and to compare him to Lambert and Borini your just asking for ridicule.

I remember last season people were saying we would win the CL this year playing like that. Dynamic, fast, countering and goals galore... Real Madrid like. This is Stoke like.

Our passing has been horrendous, I agree this is stoke like, and has been like this for a while. Too many direct/long balls when we need to look for our best short passer in Coutinho to keep things ticking. Gerrard and Henderson's short passing are average at best and I still don't think they work very well together as sitting midfielders. I think Lucas or maybe even Suso should've started.

Yes except I'd switch Sterling for Lallana keeping Coutinho.

Sterling is having a very bad game for his standards.

He's had more than one. I reckon all of the hype piled onto him by the media has taken a toll.

Are you serious? Our best player. F**k no. Hes hasnt done anything. Granted he has had little support. Studge would be able to control turn and run at players. Balo can barely control.

Need to up the tempo, we're playing as if we've qualified already,  why we keep giving the ball away I've no idea,  second half we need to retain the ball better, get the passing going and have more belief in ourselves,  we're at times trying to walk the ball into the box rather than have an old fashioned cross sent in,we're a tad predictable me thinks,

Don't think we'll have to wait long to see Lallana he could be key in getting thru them,

C'mon Redmen it's there for the taking,

      True.

I would try Lambert - he can't do worse than Borini. I don't care if Balotelli and Lambert are same. We have to try something new.

Were looking shaky at the back as per usual for a while there, but seem to settle down a bit towards the end of the half.
I would switch Sterling and Markovic round - Markovic can play wide left, Sterling is not as effective there.
We need to get more width in our game. At the minute its only happening when our fullbacks push up.

We do need to bring Borini or Lambert on. Watch how Balo has 2 defenders on him at all times. Thats cause hes the only 1 up there. Need to give them someone else to think about.
