Grew up playing basketball, I never needed to warm up and was ready at the drop of a hat. Never any injury issues either. To compare, basketball is similar to soccer in that it's a stop start type of sport. Players don't not warm up because of space, you think these teams would allow their players to not warm up if there was really any danger of injury? They don't warm up because it's not really necessary. It Is what it is, I just think it's funny.
I'm not an expert on basketball so couldn't comment tbh, but it doesn't look like there is a lot of room because of the way the seats are so close to the game so losing room means losing money... But that's just my thoughts, plus they are in and out a lot so are 'warm' I suppose but then again that's not the case for everyone.
All I know is that it's vital for both performance and for health in football. And I imagine they don't wear the shirts because they have training tops designed and made for them (and need to sell them) so they'll have to wear the training gear for warmups. As you go lower down the leagues you'll see less and less of that because the games won't have as many eyes on them.
