The new facade design for the main stand reminds me of a modern take of Archibald Leitch's architecture. He helped design the original Anfield, including that amazing facade at Ibrox.
I think its really sad that so much of Leitch's (and similar architects) work was destroyed, without even a facade remaining. Its almost like the traditional game is being airbrushed out of history with some sort of "football never existed before Sky and all seat stadia and middle class fans" being the concept hurled at us all.
I think that if they wanted to remain at Anfield, something more Leitch-like should have been done.
By that I mean lattice-work balustrades, maybe even a gable on the roof like the old Anfield. And much more detailing on the facade at the stand back. I'd include the columns like the back of the old Kop, those old lattice design windows on it. And I'd have the roof similar to the old Kop (as was done in Stage A for the new main stand). But with more light allowed in.
There are actually some good ideas with the new main. But the roof looks a bit weird. Maybe it wll look better when other stands are done.
I'm really baffled by all this nod to the 90s Anfield in the plans. After all, the 90s was when we started turning sh*t.
Its also a shame that Americans 2.0 have to resort to grotesque gimmicks like "The Liverpool Football Club". Whatever happened to quality architecture celebrating our old values and glorious past? Nope. They'd rather have some media man fuckwit in Boston deciding the word "The" is cool. Even tho he's never been to Liverpool in his life...
