Liverpool will play AWAY in home leg of Europa League qualifiers because of Anfield building work
Liverpool will have to play their home Europa League qualifier away from Anfield because of the continuing work on the new main stand.
And the Reds have also asked the Premier League to make them the visiting team for the first two matches of the domestic season to allow extra time for the construction to finish.
Liverpool sit ninth in the table with nine games to go, six points adrift of ninth-placed West Ham, so look unlikely to qualify directly for the Europa League group stage.
The third qualifying round's games will be played on consecutive Thursdays — July 28 and August 4.
Anfield will not be ready by then, so club chiefs are considering staging their home leg at either Bolton Wanderers' Macron Stadium, Wigan Athletic's DW Stadium or Blackburn Rovers' Ewood Park.
Jürgen Klopp's side may also have to abandon Anfield if they advance to the play-off round that decides which clubs advance to the group stage, which is scheduled for August 18 and 25.
When finished, the building work will increase Anfield’s capacity to around 54,000.
Liverpool are keen to avoid having to qualify for the Europa League.
