I can understand a young player wanting to earn as much as he can when he is having a successful run in the first team, but there has to be a limit. How often do we see players who have been playing sh*te, publicly or otherwise request a drop in wages from the club. It is the supporters who lose out with these exorbitant wage demands with increased costs to get into the ground, and in the end it will be the clubs who cease to exist. Whatever happened to football being a working mans sport.

So the question remains i posed to you Si...pay him whatever his people want without negotiations or reservations?

The offer it seems is 100k/week.

How much more should we pay?

I think something between that and £150K is what he'll be looking.

      I'd pay it.

How will he be on peanuts, on 100k he will be earning more than Oscar and he's not at Oscars level yet.

Ok then Si...if that is what you think he is worth than so be it.

Can't see him being worth twice as much as Coutinho but your entitled.

Bit disappointed that this is now playing out in front of the media, think Brendan should have kept it very vague yesterday.

Gut feeling is that he'll sign by the end of the month, he's got time on his side if he wants to go to a Real/Barca in the future and I think deep down he knows he won't develop any better anywhere else.

I think the figures are all pretty speculative at the moment although Brendan has said the offer is "incredible". I don't know how much you pay the player BUT let's say the club take the stand that you see to want them to do, the player gets sold, no doubt for a lot of money. Are we better off then? Surely that is the most important question to ask and it's the one I would ask you?

      Depends on the amount Scott.

Honestly in the end when he leaves it will not be amount money..it will be about London or about being at Barca/RM and the warm Spanish sun.

It's not my money so I guess it should not matter..just can't see the reasoning behind paying top top money for someone that has done nothing so to speak in a career that is just starting; seems to me like a lot of entitlement for something not earned.

I am not saying don't give him 80k/week or even 100K...but somewhere enough is enough until it is shown he can do more.

What have the club said which is wrong, he has been given a incredible offer and he has refused to sign it.

      Where's the untruth in that?

One minute we want the club to be transparent and be open and when they are, damned if you do..........

Why sell him? He'll have 2 years left, we don't have to sell.
You're right we don't have to sell , but with 2 yrs left on the contract and if a new one isn't signed shortly i'd say we need to make as much as possible for him .

We'd get much more money in the summer for him, than if he's in the last year of the contract.

If he is such a greedy person like it's claimed, i'd sell him for around 45 mill.

Hopefully he understood at which club he's playing to, we're not f**king Spurs or another midget club to be held at ransom. The owners should make an offer like take it or leave it.

Chance to come back to you now mate. It seems a contradiction that you are on the one hand asking why the club should pay x amount for the player but then on the other that if he leaves it won't be about money?
