I interpret a winger as a player that is more prone to taking the ball out wide and crossing as well as staying out wide, where as an inside forward is more prone to moving infield with the ball or without, which is how Volland usually is when played out wide.
As for a season just about identical to Borini's at Sunderland, what do you mean? Volland is more involved in build up plays and a better footballer. I think he could eventually become a #9, but I like to see us play with inside forwards and I believe Volland would be good for us and adapt well to a fluid attacking line up.
I''l put semantics aside, as there isn't really a fixed definition of these words
Very similar in terms of output to Borini. I agree that Volland is the better player, but at his age, if we are taking punts of potential, I typically expect a bit more. Also we are well stocked with good players who can play as inside forwards or wingers.
Edit: to clarify, if we are talking about just buying him as an extra to all the other options, sure why not, but if he is being mooted as a striker purchase (even if it were instead of Benteke) then I would not be happy. I do believe that Origi is just as good, but younger, and I haven't given up on Ibe, Marcovic or Lallana.
