      Pre-Match: Liverpool FC v QPR 2nd May 15.00

Most of us seem to have given up on the season but apparently there is a game on at the weekend.
With nothing but pride left to play for, it's time we tried something radical like scrapping the players and tactics which have failed to deliver.

Gerrard will be back pal, he was rested on tuesday. Lucas is training again as well.

don't be surprised if Lallana starts too.

No way couthino will be dropped.

I was not dropping Coutinho mate just think he could do with a rest and a chance to try out something different rather than the Johnson, Lambert, Gerrard etc

Fair doos ma man. Get where your coming from, I just don't see BR doing it just yet, once 5th or 6th is secure he will defo put in some of the u-21s. But I can see gerrard playing very game now, it is his last month as LFC player. :-(

      might be this. 3-4-3

      ----------------- Mings ----------------

      ------- Can - Skirtl - Lovren ---------
      - Hendo - Gerrard - Allen - Johnson -
      ------- Coutinho--Lallana------------
      ------------- Sterling -----------------

If that can't beat QPR we should just pack in and start a baseball team. ;D

Absolutely no point playing Johnson, Gerrard, Balotelli, Borini, Lambert and anyone else who isn't going to be here next season.

None of them have done much to merit a start anyway and if Brendan is serious about turning things around I think he should start this weekend.

      Manquillo Skrtel Lovren Moreno

      Can

Might be this, not what I think it should be, just what I think BR will do. He may throw a curveball in and start Lambo, but I doubt it. Lucas is fit too, but probably be in bench.

I couldn't care less about what Stevie wants. He's leaving.

Lambert hardly needs a shop window as we every one knows what he's about.

So Si, do we play Balotelli up front on his own again? He has been cr@p yet Rodgers keeps picking him.
Would it not be good if we got something different to try in this match? As it is it wouldn't make any difference with the same team as before the way we are playing.

Also, he should/should have used the large squad he has rather than try to *prove everyone* wrong about Balotelli by picking him over and over again when he is absolute dross.

No confidence in this game, the team, or the manager right now. and with QPR fighting for survival I believe they will put in a dogged performance.

      1:2 to QPR I reckon.

      See my post earlier mate.

There's more than a handful of players I wouldn't play again this season.

Mario is very much among them.

Markovic, Coutinho and Ibe front three for me.

      Balo is injured.

So its toss up between Lambo & Borini or sterling again.

disagree about Stevie G, he is still the Captain right up until he leaves, he will play most if not all games from now till end of season. With a bit of luck he might just have a good game as well. ;D

Going for a 2 0 win for the Reds tomorrow, although after the last three abysmal performances, against Aston Villa, West Brom and Hull, there is little to be confident about. I suppose it is just being a Liverpool supporter you have to carry on showing belief no matter how bad things seem.

What difference has it made so far with Balo injured or not?
Also, why o why or why *doesn't* Brendan play TWO up front? It worked last year. Two is better than one even if it is not of the same quality as Suarez.

Does my head in that - not playing two up front.

Debs touched on this and it is probably true his preferred formation is probably 433 with one striker and two wide players.

Great formation if you have the players!

We don;t have 2 strikers as good as studger & suarez though. Last season Br found a way of playing them in same team.

I would like to see Lambo given a shot with somebody up along with him, maybe playing sterling off him.

      Mignolet

      Can   Skrtel   Sahko

      Ibe   Henderson   Lucas   Moreno

      Coutinho   Lallana

      Sterling

Bench: Jones, Lovren, Toure, Manquillo, Johnson, Markovic, Allen, Gerrard, Lambert, Borini, Balotelli

We're at home, I want to see goals. I don't want to see old man Lambert, Mad Mario or headless Cicken Borini anywhere near the starting eleven and above all I don't want to see us in a situation where we're desperate enough to put any of them on never mind them all!

If three at the back doesn't work, go to a 4-2-3-1 formation, haul Can off, put either Manquillo or Johnson on (i.e. a proper fullback) and push Ibe in to the three behind Sterling. It might sound strange but I'd sooner loose this match trying to win it than draw it because the players don't turn up again. I'm a Liverpool supporter, I want to see a performance worthy of the shirt.

Why is everyone insisting Can plays in the back 3?

Over the past 6 or so games he has been found out at CB or RB....I don't get it.

Because the alternative is Lovren or Toure and neither can play the ball out from the back.

Fair enough but I don't agree.

I want to see him add some grit and energy in the middle. We have defenders let them do their job.

They can both play the ball out of the back the issue is when our midfield dont show for the ball or ping it straight back then it puts a lot of pressure on the defenders to be able to bring the ball out which only Sakho and Can can do effectively. Thats why we see Lovren lumping it so often.

The answer is for our midfielders Hendo, Allen and Gerrard to be able to take the ball with their back to goal shield it and turn and make the pass. Apart from Lucas all our midfielders are poor under pressure their default is to pass it back rather than being brave and taking responsibility.

      Mignolet
      Manquillo     Skrtel      Lovren      Moreno
      Can     Hendo
      Ibe       Coutinho       Lallana
      Sterling

But really, it's nearly impossible to come up with 11 deserving players after the last few matches.

Let's take a quick look at what they've got to offer...
      1 Green
      15 Onuoha
      22 Dunne
      4 Caulker
      6 Hill
      7 Phillips M
      8 Barton
      30 Sandro
      20 Henry
      25 Zamora
      9 Austin

4-0 .. Dunne own goal one of them.. again .. ;D

Barton, red card.. or quiet as a mouse...he could go either way..

Hard to work up a lot of excitement before this one. QPR will be scrapping for everything (or should be).

      Mignolet
      Can   Skrtel  Lovren
      Ibe   Henderson   Gerrard   Moreno
      Coutinho   Lallana
      Sterling

Cmon Stevie mate, need a blast from the past...

If Allen gets dropped for Gerrard he has every right to be pissed off.

Agree with many....incredibly hard to find any passion for this coming fixture and, to be honest any of the games left this season.
Been an utter disaster of a season for many reasons.
For this game though i would go for a 4-2-3-1

      Mig

      Manquillo
      Skrtel
      Sakho
      Moreno

      Henderson
      Allen

      Marko
      Coutinho
      Lallana

      Sterling

Ibe, Lambert and Gerrard off the bench

Hope for a 2-0 win but we'll probably put in another dire performance and get a 1-1

Can't wait for this season to end and the clear out of dead wood to begin and the hope of signing some actual quality players....

Nobody is listening to the rumours from the club, Gerrard & Lambo are starting. Fact ! ;D

Agree Allen will be hard done by if he gets dropped\rested.

Think lucas will come of the bench for Gerrarrd after 70 mins.

Been feeling really flat since last week, this match feels like a bit of a dead rubber contest now.
Still at the end of the day we still get to see Liverpool players, which is Kind of the point of supporting them  :)

What I want most today is a change in attitude from the players, go at a gem from the start.

Know the feeling, mate. I'm having more fun doing my assignment right now than looking forward to the game.

Just hoping there is some life in the team. Something to get me off my arse and get excited - probably only Coutinho could do that right now.

Most of us seem to have given up on the season but apparently there is a game on at the weekend.
With nothing but pride left to play for, it's time we tried something radical like scrapping the players and tactics which have failed to deliver.

                          Manquillo         Skrtel   Lovren      Moreno

                                        Can                   Henderson

                                           Markovic       Yesil

I can see the sense in that. I'd just change Lambert for  Markovic . With Markovic taking Sterlings place.
