Good luck Rickie, would have shone for us in his earlier years.

Interesting view considering he was playing in League 2 in his early days - hardly shining in the prem!

Saw him play a few times for Bristol Rovers and although he was banging in the goals he was definitely less fit and mobile than he was towards the end of his time at southampton (picture illustrates this on Wiki actually) - so IMO he peaked a couple of years ago opposed to 10 or so years ago. Clearly the experience made him a better player.

YNWA Rickie - all the best lad

You would be entirely correct in your assertion if that era of lower league performance was indicated, it wasn't.
Irrespective and speaking hypothetically, if the lad had played in a bigger arena with an improved squad, who knows what he might have aspired to at that time.

Would've been interesting if a big club took him on early in his career as he was always far too good technically for the the lower leagues but just didn't have the fitness and was always a bit overweight. Like you say as soon as he was in the prem with Southampton it seemed to push him and he definitely trimmed up and was more mobile etc.

He would never had been 'quick' but had he had the same level of fitness and mobility he had at the end of his career he would definitely have had a more prominent 'big stage' career.

Still not convinced he would've made it on the very top stage though.

      All hypothetical of course.

I'm also assuming this deal is why Benteke is yet to get a squad number. Number 9 heading his way methinks

Why would we sell a midfielder?!

I think we've got to many in that just wont get enough game time to benifit both the player or club, Allen wont play enough so if I was chosing one to sell I would sell him. ( I know you hate all my posts but its a forum and I'm bored in work so this passes the time.. no hard done)

He's like a forum "bot" or something that just randomly creates posts cobbled together from other posts and then bumps all of the topics.

Yup never one complaint treated the club and supporters with a huge amount of respect and went about his business.

Hope he gets lots of playing times and enjoys the time he has left playing.
