My ashes ratings
Alistair Cook 7/10 - his captaincy certainly proved me wrong. Still england's rock at the top of the order
Adam Lyth 3/10 - seems a good sort but struggled badly. Good hundred against NZ seems years away. Will be dropped
Ian Bell 4/10 - an increasing enigma, the best player to watch but is too loose.
Joe Root 8/10 - wickets, catches and runs, still more to come as well. Funny lad as well
Gary Ballance - 3/10 - needs to work on his technique, is a number 5 or 6 all day long.
Jonny Bairstow - 6/10 - One good innings, better than when he played last time, still not convinced.
Ben Stokes - 6/10 - needs to add more consistency, great talent but needs to show it more often.
Jos Buttler - 3/10 - Wicket Keeping is average at best, batting in the longer form of the game needs to improve rapidly
Moeen Ali - 6/10 - Vital lower order runs and the odd valuable wicket, was never going to be the long term solution to england's spinning options
Stuart Broad - 8/10 - as usual when he is good is is brilliant, englands best bowler, his batting seems to be showing signs of life
James Anderson - 5/10 - Not at this best apart from one good innings, needs to be wrapped in cotton wool.
Mark Wood - 6/10 - Promising start, needs to stay fit, gives england something different
Steve Finn- 6/10 - Excellent to see him back and in form, would love to see him put on bit extra pace
