Like you say mate, he's got a brilliant CV but when you analise how he achieved it he was never really the linchpin in those successes.

Well, in his last-second assist to Aguero's title-winning goal he really was.

 Nonsense! Ringo was and still is one of the best drummers around. Unique, kept impeccable time and was remarkably consistent.

So is there any use in being optimistic and hoping that if he stays he somehow becomes productive? You know...him still being a Red and all?

I have hope mate but I'm probably one of the biggest Mario fans on here.

great attitude was given extended leave but instead has come back early as he's got a point to prove to BR and show him that he dont need to pay 32.5mil for a striker whos not better than him and if he can adapt his game can be our 15 goal a season striker so no need for a new one.
give  him a chance keep the benteke money for
      A. winter window (if BR is sacked and we bring in Klopp
      B. next summer if we get CL football so we have an even bigger warchest to spend, as BR has had enough £$ now he needs to make it work!

Well that confirms Balotelli will be sold or at least loaned out this Summer.

Or it could mean that he is taking a little time to deal with his fathers passing instead of 2 weeks in Bangkok & Australia.

They've still not had the funeral AZ so it makes sense for him to stay at home.  There's always the Norwegian game he can be available for when they're back from Asia.

      I'd probably go with this.

Feel bad for Mario. He has just never kicked on for us, taken a ton of abuse and now this.

Yeah, it would appear so. Especially as the other two notable names left off the traveling list were Enrique and Borini!! That trio seem destined for the exit door.

On a side note, there are some exciting young lads from the academy that will get a chance to impress!! I'm really looking forward to seeing the likes of Gomez, Chrivella, Rossiter, Tex, Ibe, and Origi. I'm also expecting more out of Markovic this season. Hopefully he can have a really good preseason to build up his form and confidence before August 8th!!

Got to say I loved Gomez 5 years back. Very underrated striker at the time and a superb asset to the German national team. That said the last few years he has gone missing in action due to some bad injuries so it's harder to get excited about it now.

He's also 30 now and I can't see him regaining his best years at that age in a league as fast as the Prem.

I think we are going to see a strike force of Studge, Benteke, Ings and Origi and that will be that.

I don't think so; barring health issues I see 50+ goals from that strike force...toss in another 30 or so from elsewhere.

All comes down to Studge and Benteke staying healthy and playing.

The juries still out on Ings and Origi for me. I presume that their game time will be quite limited in the league so they may need to put in some top performances in pre-season for the manager to think about including them regularly in the league. The good thing about Origi is that he can played a wide forward too whereas Ings is only really suited to a central position.

Rumours of a swap deal between the two Mario's are gathering pace.

Must say I've always liked Mario Gomez I think he would give us huge power up front and is far more clinical a finisher than Balotelli.
