If we get Bacca after signing Firmino I'm heading out on the town with FSG gear on.
Let's face it club seems to be working a lot smarter this window,
even if it is a counter to the loss of Sterling.

      Definitely.
Actions speak louder than open letters to fans.

"The club should be making the most of free transfers" - Done

"Well free transfers are fine so long as we invest in attacking players" - Seems to be getting done ( 1 in and linked to 2 more )

He doesn't link play well at all. I read an article about him which pointed out that he only averages 14 passes a game with a 67% pass success rate. That's awful.

Our best option at striker this season was Sterling and he averaged something like 34 passes which a much better success rate.

Which makes you wonder if Bacca is the right player for us? Rodgers likes his forwards to be involved, so with Bacca joining, it could be a detrimental to our team and Bacca himself.

This is promising and heartening I say! Really promising..

Somehow got a feeling that the committee still prefers Benteke to Bacca, waiting (until some specific time) to see if Villa lower their valuation

Reckon we should get this lad in - can just see C. Bacca lining up with Princess Leiva. ;)

How about a cheeky bid for Han Solo-dado and the Millienium Falcao-n while we're at it?

I personally prefer Rondon, there is more variety in the goals he scores and they are all in open play as he doesn't take penalties for Zenit. Bacca's stats for goals and assists are great, but like Balotelli and Lambert before him the stats a skewed slightly by goals from penalties.

Personally I couldn't care how the goals are scored as long as they are scored.

      Bacca
      [2012/13]
Jup. Pro League: 25 games, 22 goals, 4 assists
Europa Lge: 7 games, 3 goals, 1 assist

      [2013/14]
La Liga: 35 games, 14 goals (13 without pens), 9 assists
Europa Lge: 15 games, 6 goals, 3 assists

      [2014/15]
La Liga: 37 games, 20 goals (14 without pens), 7 assists
Europa Lge: 15 games, 7 goals, 3 assists

      Rondon
      [2012/13]
Premier Liga: 25 games, 7 goals, 1 assist
Europa Lge: 12 games, 6 goals, 1 assist

      [2013/14]
Premier Liga: 20 games, 13 goals, 4 assists
Europa Lge: 4 games, 4 goals, 0 assists

      [2014/15]
Premier Liga: 26 games, 13 games, 3 assists,
      Europa Lge:6 games, 3 goals, 0 assists

Even without penalties Bacca scores and assists more.

You say Brendan likes his strikers to get involved, going off goals and assists, Bacca gets the most involved. Passing percentage is one of the worst stats to judge a strikers involvement on.

      Indeed.

And people discount pens and free kicks too easily at times.

I'm sure it's not a bad thing to sign a guy who scores the odd penalty and free.

Nah I think penalties should be discarded. Any average player would score more often than not if he suddenly became a regular penalty taker. The number of goals also don't show how many, if any, penalties were missed. This is important if we're hoping the guy to become a penalty taker for LFC as well. Obviously it is good if we have someone able to score from all or nearly all of them, but those numbers are not reflective of the said player's ability or contribution to the team in general. If football was more like American football, we could easily have a penalty kick specialist who could hardly kick a ball otherwise (I'm inclined to think I'd be pretty good at that... never missed penalties at school! ;D)

Free kicks are different though. There are not many players who are great on free kicks in the world and dead ball situations can be a huge advantage - how many trophies were won due to having good free kick takers... but still, if all a player does is score from free kicks, then I'd look at them with suspicion as well - we shouldn't be expecting a player like that to solve our problems in open play.

(No dig at you at all Diego)

But luckily for him it seems, he is quite the fox in the box without penalties.

Hope we show the same gumption with this lad as we've just shown with Firmino. If we get them two and perhaps the other South American lad we're linked with, I'll be happy with our business this Summer.

Also I am hearing that Bacca once took a piece of candy from a local vendor without paying - his parents later made him return the candy to the vendor and apologize for stealing.

I'm less convinced about this one as I was the Firmino deal. I'll temper that statement with the fact I haven't seen enough of him live to make a definitive opinion. I've seen him a few times though and there's just something nagging me that he's not quite top class, his stats most certainly are though which at the end of the day if he produces numbers similar we'll all be happy. His interplay when he drops deep looks good though (youtube scouting) and hopefully that's the idea, a fluid front set of players because that is without doubt the style that suits Brendan's management best.

Must admit Si, that is a major plus :D

Just thinking with a pairing like Firmino and Coutinho in behind, as Ronaldinho said, it's a striker's dream. If we could marry them up with (a Suarez type) someone who makes all the right runs we could be back to the season before last style.

Always picky though me mate and I'm sure, as it's looking increasingly likely, this lad will be a major hit and my worries will disappear in no time.
