BTW did Hendo play as a āTrueā DM last night?
I personally don't have a problem with people calling our #6 a DM. Essentially, the #6's main priority in our system is to neutralize attacks and keep the ball ticking, just like any other DM, right? Yes, our #6 will have more freedom to venture forward, but that isn't their primary function.
I also read that Hendo has been playing more like a regista at times (can't remember who said it tbh), but don't you have to be a bit of a baller and pass master to play that role? Isn't a regista more or less the same as a deep lying playmaker but slightly higher up? It's certainly something I haven't seen Hendo play as, nor have I seen it utilized in Klopp's system.
I kinda swayed away from using DM as there seem to be some who assume you mean a static midfield, so these days, I just call it deepest midfield or #6
Just like the double pivot, double 6, double 8 or whatever, they are primary same things? One usually goes, one usually stays, or at times, both stays, right?
End of the day, this is just a forum where people just use words and numbers for formations and roles without any real context, I just don't think we should get too bogged down on it unless someone goes into detail which clarifies things. Sorry for the random rant!
Anyway, back on topic, I just noticed Clyne's move is only 6 months! Maybe he can prove himself (again) to be PL standard, and when he returns and Klopp decides to sell, maybe we can get a fair bit for him in the summer!
