The reason segregation was a problem is because UEFA made so few available to the fans of both teams and of course, the tickets for the so called UEFA family found there way onto the black market and for the most part got snapped up by Reds desperate to go the game.
Sounds all a bit like 1985, doesn't it? The only difference between then and now, was no casualties and no arrests. But sadly as then, it was inevitable given the ticketing arrangements, which are UEFA's responsibility.
The flares are indefensible really. Whatever you think of them, you just can't use them inside a stadium, any stadium, and everyone is aware of that. So the response for persistent use of them will be heavy.
