Our club was invited by my AFL club in Port Adelaide to yesterdays local derby against Adelaide where we unfortunately lost, but it was a beautiful thing, I was there in my Port scarf knowing I'd be at the same ground the next night in my Liverpool scarf, with the stadium full of red instead of the usual back and white and teal. Brendan Rodgers was in the Port coaches box (they sit up in the grandstand in a box, overseeing the whole oval, as opposed to a dugout) for this AFL game and he witnessed a cracker, I wonder how much he learns from witnessing the high pressure high steaks situation of our game.

My guess is like many others and based on the team we saw against Brisbane, I expect the likes of Bogdan, Lovren, Moreno, Allen to start - are we going all out with 'the kids' and giving Rossiter, Teixeira, Chrivella a start or the second half? I would love to see that, perhaps the crowd in Adelaide would be disappointed at not seeing 'the stars' but I would feel privileged to see a young team play first hand - I did go to the MCG a couple years ago though.

I really want to see Markovic and Ibe start and I think if that happened he'd put Ings between them. Pretty keen to continue watching these young players gel!

It's going to be very strange seeing a football pitch at the Oval! Going to feel so far away from the action!

      • Merry Christmas, Everton.
Boss said Moreno will play today so I'm guessing he will line up alongside Kolo and Lovren with Gomez or Clyne on the right.

Either way I don't really care. Just want to be at the game and the atmosphere.

Can't wait to get there. At the train station waiting to get to the airport now.

Looking forward to this to gauge how the new lads are doing and what we can look forward to in the new season. Even though it is basically a practise match for us  it is always nice to see a good performance and a good win.

      They are weird over there.

I'm sure they had a vote, Queensland I think it was about changing the time zone, or the daylight savings, and one of the things it was defeated on was it would mean that the curtains would be bleached more.

Well that I was told when I was over in Adelaide, (2001 and 2003)

Must say, Adelaide is a lovely city, people are a bit slow, but lovely.

The Don Bradman cricket ground was great, but now it's been done up and ruined. IMHO.

They should be quite a bit more solid at the back than Brisbane, they finished 3rd in the league table in their previous season with the 2nd best defensive record.

From what I can remember they don't have a stand out striker (could be wrong) but they have goals quite well spread throughout the team.

Good adventurous run by Joe Allen. Need to acknowledge the bags of skill of Adam Lallana. Optimistic about the lad this season

Only got half an eye on it at work but we look totally dominant so far. More balanced with Ibe on the right instead of Ings.

Pace of the game a bit slow at the moment. No real opportunities by either side. Love the look of Joe Gomez. I think he is my signing of this window.

Shocking performence again. No creativity what so ever. Hopefully Fimino en Coutinho can provide that. But it's no use when nobody makes runs...
