Clyne and Gomez have been brilliant so far, big upgrade on Johnson and Moreno.

Ings been very lively too. Huge difference from last season having a striker who is willing to make the runs our creative players can feed off.

Decent if unspectacular. Ings came close with a glancing header. Both full backs playing excellently.

Really looking forward to this game as I think it'll be the starting line up for Stoke.  Still think Lovren has a lot to do to keep his place, he'll never be faultless but not many defenders are.
No, debs. great defenders are. We just don't have any.

Sakho has the potential to be a great centre back.

If only we had a striker. Ings is hanging on the defensive line even when they're sitting deep. Needs to run around to create space.

Oh I don't know, I've seen plenty great defenders make howlers on occasion.

I'd rather have great attackers than great defenders as they win you games whereas great defenders may get you draws.  There's a reason why attackers cost so much more money than defenders.

Gomez, Ibe and Coutinho have been my stand outs in this half.

Have to say Lallana has disappointed so far (should score soon but wont change anything he's done so far :D ) and Henderson has been a bit invisible for my liking.

Ings looking so far like a slight improvement on Borini but I wouldn't want to be starting with him too often to be fair.

If Gomez can keep up this quality of play against premier league attackers we have found a gem. It will be an instant upgrade on our defense with him and Clyne.

Like what Ings brings and Ibe is going to be a frightening prospect for opposing defenses.

Can't wait to see Coutinho raise his game some more this year.

Agree. Add Clyne to the good list.

Lallana has been sh*te, as well as Mignolet early on and Ings is underwhelming.

I said in another thread, we need strikers who can play in front of the line and create space with their movement but we've added 3 lads who don't really do that in Ings, Origi and Benteke.

We look alright until it gets in to the final third, then it all goes to sh*t. All because Ings is just sitting on the defender and not doing anything.

I don't like this formation. It feels like we get overran in midfield far too easily.

Want to see Ings and Origi up top with Coutinho just in behind.

It's half the squad cautiously playing to avoiding injury one week before the season starts. I wouldn't look too much into it.

I'd like to see Chirivella slot in to midfield with Hendo and Milner, and push Coutinho alongside Ings with maybe Kent or Allan.

Origi and Ings up front would be both of the same.

cou is rusty but still quality, gomez have been good and ibe has been our best player in first half. Clyne was solid.

we are controlling the game by possesion, so its all good even without a goal. the only thimg that worries me, i know its pre season and all that. last season whenever a team sits back and defend, we struggle to create. seeimg the same thing now.

The way I see it, final third play hasn't been good, we need to release the ball earlier and stop taking shots at ridiculous range or angles when there are better options available, and despite more possession, our passing has been poor.
