Maybe it's the managers responsibility to motivate them?

I think they are focused on the task at hand, but at the same time, the players typically mimic the boss'es energy level so read into that what you will.

      Because he's the manager.

Not taking the piss Frizzby - but you can't buy that as a defence.

Or they should be able to motivate themselves considering they are professionals and getting paid.

Professionals...my boss doesn't have to motivate me, I'm motivated because I'm paid good money to do what I do. In fact, most of my working life my bosses have been lazy and ineffectual.

surely the money they're paid is motivation enough, if not maybe the fact that they're playing for the Mighty REDS would be enough, no?

i dont blame br for that but isnt that his job to motivate them? fergie made his teams hungry and make them wanted more every season. he even said that in his shitty book that its down to the manager to motivate them always push them to achieve more. hate him as a person but he was a good coach.

I definitely get that vibe from watching. Anfield looks like an operating room, not a war party.

Ok - what would you do if you were the manager.

You can't allow it to continue can you? And if you can't change it over an extended period.......what then?

There's no denying the influence of a strong leader though. I'm not denying your professionalism but if you had a strong leader you might just find that they get the odd % more out of you than you realised you had.

maybe when the use the stats to look at a player they should try the slap in the face test. Slap them in the face and if the they puch you back twice as hard sign them if they dont walk away.We have no solid charachters out there tonight

Do we know motivation is the problem? I mean they all look focused to me, but they may appear to be playing pretty tight...and who can blame them when they know their boss is on the hot seat. Part of it's on us (and the crowd).

Maybe if the crowd at Anfield would take their hands out from under their arses and test out their voices a bit and make some noise the players might feel that energy and get something out of this. I thought the point of the Kop was to "pull" goals in. The only people I hear are the away supporters and surprise...they away team is the one with more fight right now.

Maybe it's arrogance, but I always trust myself more than anyone I've ever worked for ;D

I've never thought I couldn't do the job better than the guy above me. Like I said, arrogance I suppose but at the same time...aren't that what these professional athletes supposed to be?  Cocky and assured?
