      KLOPP FOR AUBAMEYANG?

Liverpool are ready to rival Arsenal to sign Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, reports the Daily Express.

The Gabon striker has been valued at £42m by the Bundesliga side, but that’s reportedly failed to put off either Premier League club.

Aubameyang leads the Bundesliga with 18 goals in 17 league appearances so far this season.

      AUBAMEYANG MISSES TRAINING

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has fuelled speculation he is set to leave Borussia Dortmund after missing the club's return to training following the winter break on Tuesday.

A club spokesman said the Gabon international was absent "for personal reasons" although reports in England and Germany have linked the 26-year-old with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

"We all hope he'll [Aubameyang] stay," said team-mate Matthias Ginter.

Zero chance he's coming here unless he's an idiot or has a gluten for punishment.

After Dortmund's season last time out, to do it all over again with us seems stupid.

Hope he comes but highly unlikely it would be in this window.
If Studge doesn't show he is capable of playing more than a handful of games then summer transfer there might be a chance.

£42m is cheap when compared to what we've paid for players not even half as good as him.

Pay it, we are absolutely desperate for a player of his quality and in his position.

Can't see it happening, but I live in hope.

Aubameyang would be a dream come true but I'm not sure if we would be able to attract him right now, although if there's anyone who can do it, this person would have to be Klopp. He has stated in the past his desire to play in Spain iirc

Would be a dream partnership with Studge too as both can play wide and/or through the middle!!  But, I can't see him wanting to come here when he will likely have other offers from teams like Real, Atletico, Juve, PSG, etc....

Aubameyang without Reus is like a Sunday roast without gravy.... might as well go for the full works if we're in for him, but I doubt very much we can lure both :(

The one and only thing that could lure him to Anfield is Klopp atm...

Well this is obvious rubbish, unless Klopp's pulling power is unreal. That said, the board would probably say £42 million is far too much, while the transfer committee bellends offer Jon Walters and sign him for £35 million.

Kinda hope we don't sign him. Klopp said he wasn't going to raid Dortmund to reunite with ex players, it rarely works out as you would hope. I'm not keen on managers that bring the same players to each club, reminds me of somebody. Somebody that will bring both Joe Allen and Fabio Borini to every club he manages until the day they retire.

It's clear that Klopp has an eye for talent so I'd like to see us get that kind of player before he gets a £40m price tag slapped on him.

Indeed, I'd compare Klopp's talent spotting to that of Aussie Red's, just different types of talent. Both are top of their game though and I appreciate the work both do for the good of the rest of us

      DORTMUND RULE OUT DEPARTURES

Borussia Dortmund will hold on to all their key players in the winter transfer window, club CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said on Tuesday as the club looks to build on a fine first half to the Bundesliga season.

Speculation regarding the future of midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been mounting in recent weeks, with the Germany midfielder recently saying that he had not yet decided whether to extend his 2017 contract.

"I can rule out transfer of any of our top performers now," Watzke told reporters at the team's winter training camp in Dubai. "That's definitely not on our agenda."

Wave a chequebook at them, see if they feel the same way in the summer.

I'd pretty much hand over our transfer kitty for Hummels and Gundogan. And throw in Aubameyang if Klopp wanted him too.

One for the summer. Utterly top draw material. Would fit in like a dream and just imagine a front two of a fit Sturridge/Aubameyang. 50-60 goals a season for the front pairing alone. Sounds like footballing heaven to me. We paid 35m for big Andy and nearly the same for big Ben, so surely a similar bid for guaranteed goals is a no brainer?
