      Tony Barrett

JĆ¼rgen Klopp is considering giving Daniel Sturridge his first Barclays Premier League start
for four months after the forward made ā€œa big stepā€ when he played almost 70 minutes of
Liverpoolā€™s FA Cup defeat by West Ham United.

Sturridge trained yesterday, having had two routine recovery days after Liverpoolā€™s Cup exit,
and Kloppā€™s decision on whether or not he is ready to start against Aston Villa tomorrow will
rest on how well the England international trains today.

Kloppā€™s recently rediscovered optimism over Sturridgeā€™s fitness remains tempered by a
caution that is inevitable given his injury record over the past 18 months, but there is hope
that the 26-year-old may finally be ready to provide Liverpool with a cutting edge that has
      been lacking in his absence.

The change in mood over the past ten days has been noticeable and began on Friday last
week, when Sturridge illuminated a training session at Melwood with finishing skills that
reminded both his team-mates and his manager of the talent they had been missing.
That display prompted Klopp to name him as a substitute for Liverpoolā€™s 2-2 home draw
against Sunderland the next day, although Sturridge was not brought on in the game.
Sturridgeā€™s subsequent comeback against West Ham was a success in terms of everything but
the result, as Liverpool lost the game 2-1 despite the former Chelsea player looking sharp
after coming on in the 59th minute and completing the rest of the game, including extra time.
It was the longest that Sturridge had played since he started and finished the Merseyside derby
against Everton on October 4. ā€œDaniel played about 70 minutes, so he had normal recovery.
After training with less minutes, he could have trained a bit more, but he was involved in all
the things with the players who played the full time against West Ham, like Divock Origi did
      too,ā€ Klopp said.

ā€œHe [Sturridge] feels good, he made a big step in the last week. I have not made a final
decision with the starting line-up, but all is like it should be.ā€

Sturridgeā€™s potential return is unlikely to enhance Christian Bentekeā€™s chances of facing his
former club and although the Liverpool manager refuses to write him off after going 11 games
without a goal, the striker has been told that the onus is on him to prove himself.

ā€œWeā€™ve had a few talks, especially on the pitch, and weā€™ve done a few things in training, for
sure,ā€ Klopp said. ā€œBut to put the finger in a problem does not automatically solve it. We can
not ignore it, but it is not as bad as it seems. Carry on, but you have to change things or the
      problem will not be solved.ā€

Seeing Daniel shows the need for several quality match winning or match saving players in a team.

Indeed. Apart from one or two others, the dirth of real quality all over the pitch is apparent in my opinion. Daniel is our best player, followed by Coutinho and Firmino.

All the very best to Jim and Clint  ;D Massive day for both of you  :gt-happyup:

Well I'm off to Villa Park tomorrow morning to support the Mighty Redmen, so I hope we press them hard right from the off, get a couple of goals and then we can think about Thursday, looks like JĆ¼rgen has a few more players to choose from and that can only be a good thing...going for a win, and let's face it, we should easily be able to smash them !! Come on you Reds !!

      I feel ashamed.

Good Luck lads tomorrow lads, am sure it will go wonderfully well for both of you.

Gotta win this one after todays results. Can we take advantage of the situation, just this once please ?
I'm going for a 2 - 1 reds win. No confidence in us keeping a clean sheet, even against this sh*te side.
      Think i'd go with....
Mignolet, or any stand in at training who looks half decent.

                                   Flanno                Sahko   Ilori          Smith

                                                       Milner          Lucas

                                             Stewart       Coutinho          Allen

                                                              Firmino

Studge off the bench on 60 mins, and possibly Benteke, at any time, if we are more than 5 goals to the good.
and  perhaps Brannigan if Lucas tires after his huge performances recently.

I think Flanno and Smith will be fine, but a bit worried about out centre backs, as always. We don't seem to ever overcome the vampires curse on crosses. Hope they prove me wrong of course, but with better players returning from injuries, it does sometimes give the rest a bit of a lift as well. Here's hoping.  :kop5cf8koxp6:
And Clint and Jim.... Good luck with that lads. Hope all goes well for you. If not, you'll always have each other eh !  :f_tongueincheek:

Aston Villa away, bottom of the league....should be a no brainer..

If Sturridge plays from the start with a point to prove when he gets the ball Villa are f**ked...

It wouldn't surprise me if Benchteke went and scored a hat trick... that's the crazy JurgenExpress journey we're having these days..

Feeling very confident we can turn this lot over... weds knockout is still raw and we need to bounce back straight away..

Europe and a Cup Final is just around the corner and we need a win, end of.

I'd take personal satisfaction from shunting a seriously energetic one up a manc or a bitter, and then tell them after, do you realise you've just been fu**ed by the reds again !   >:D >:D

No matter how man times I read this I keeping thinking Jim and Clint are hooking up  :D

We'll batter these, this is the start of the corner being turned, players coming back available for selection, more options...  More time on the training pitch..

Telling you, this is the start of a big run.

      2-0 / 3-1 Redmen.

      Mignolet
      Clyne
      Moreno
      Sakho
      Lovren
      Hendo
      Can
      Coutinho
      Origi
      Firmino
      Sturridge

      Batter
      Them

Best of luck to Clint and Jim.

Not seeing Flanno mentioned much on todays posts.
Is he out of favour, or is he injured ? I thought he was doing o.k. if maybe a bit erratic  at times. Which is to be expected after such a long lay off.

We were a very good entertaining side with the likes of Suarez, Gerrard, Sterling, Countinho, Sturridge et al.
