Have literally just finished watching game as had my dads birthday meal today. Gutted. I'm not sure we deserved to win it on the balance of the game but I really fancied us when we got them to pens.

Holy sh*t, there again after He filled in at left back he was world class in comparison to the brainless one.

A match isn't 30 mins long though.

Lucas was without doubt the man of the match closely followed by Clyne who was also excellent. Having to make the early sub did us no favours because it meant a clearly shattered Sturridge had to play the full 120 when in truth we could have used a player like Ibe to provide some much needed width and pace.

The game kinda summer up where we we're at for me. We've got some quality, defensively we have got better, it looks like there is a game plan BUT we are sorely lacking in creativity in the midfield and we're in desperate need of some width. There was no lack of effort but we lack quality in key areas.

I thought Mignolet responded superbly to the error but unfortunately we k ow the next one is just around the corner.

Dissapointing to lose, especially on pens but Citeh deserved the win, we have a big rebuilding job on our hands in the summer, at least 3 new midfielders to replace Milner, Can and Henderson plus a top notch striker and goalkeeper.

That is the issue there Gary, they are all cut from the same cloth and when all three are playing that cloth is rather bland.

Always tough to lose on pens but thinking about it I've got to say we were very lucky to even get there. We had the Origi header but they had countless more chances. Sterling should have scored, on a normal day Aguero buries at least one of his chances and they looked dangerous from set pieces all game.

With Kompany fit this City side are a completely different animal to the one Leicester and ourselves turned over at the Etihad and for us to beat them today we would have had to be on top form but we just weren't. Moreno was a liability down that left all afternoon, the midfield yet again failed to control a game and our attackers either just didn't get the service or took too many touches when they did.

Turning into another absolutely horrendous season but we've got to keep going. Beating United to get into the quarters would be massive, anything can happen once you're down to the last eight. Need to build some momentum domestically before the summer as well when hopefully Jürgen can get a few players in.

If you sh*te on someones floor and do an ok job at cleaning it up, you've still sh*te on the floor, and Simon has sh*te on us for far too long. You cannot be man of the match if you're the reason we didn't win in the first place.
