So it's our second pre season game...
V
It will be the first team the two sides have met at Highbury Stadium. In 2003, the two sides played a pre-season friendly at Bloomfield Road, with the Reds winning 6-1. The only player to remain from both teams that day is of course, Fleetwood Town captain, Nathan Pond.
Pre Match talk from Fleetwood:Steven Pressley: âThey are one of greatest clubâs in English football history and I am sure it will be a great experience for many of our players. Liverpool are a club that I have great admiration for and they have a manager in place that I have studied in great depth and I believe our footballing philosophies are very similar.
âMy intention prior to the game is to give each player 45 minutes. We have a very detailed plan in place that all the players are ready come the 6th August.â
Pre Match from Liverpool:JĂźrgen Klopp welcomes problems and challenges during Liverpool's pre-season schedule â as they will ensure his players are ready for the Premier League kick-off next month.
The Reds began their run of nine preparation matches with a 1-0 win over Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park on Friday night, Danny Ings powering in the decisive goal on 79 minutes.
Kloppâs side were made to work hard for the result, squandering several chances to take the lead after the hosts had struck the post through Connor Jennings in the first half.
But the manager insisted that kind of game is required at this stage of pre-season and provides early examples of what must be tweaked before facing Arsenal on August 14.
âItâs always nice to see the very young lads in games like this and think âoh!â because they make really big steps.
âThatâs good to see. The young boys only enjoy it, they have no pressure, and itâs nice.
âBut for all of the other players, they have to show a little bit to me and the crowd, and the opponent is hard and well organised.
âWe need these moments in the pre-season to go through. If itâs easy in each game in the pre-season, then we get the first problem in the first game in the Premier League.
âSo we want to have the problems in the pre-season and be well prepared in the Premier League.â
Referee:Kevin Friend will officiate the game between Pressley and Kloppâs men.
I'm sure everyone will get a run out, Ings will feature again no doubt as will Mane. It will be interesting to see how strong of a side we do put out though.
What's your predictions for this one and who would you like to see get a run out?
