Pre Match: Liverpool v Watford (Premier League) Sun 6th Nov 2:15pm GMT
      Nov 01, 2016 04:17:01 pm
Back at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as 7th placed Watford come to Anfield.

The reds lost 3-0 away at Watford last December - Bogdan was in goal not that it was all his fault, but we beat them 2-0 at Anfield in May - Joe Allen and Bobby Firmino with the goals.

      Current League Table

      Last six games

Watford's only defeat in the last 6 games is against Burnley - not a great place to visit for us either.  They did however beat the other two promoted clubs and they managed what we couldn't and beat United at home.

It's a shame we're going to have to go and beat them and probably let the Mancs back into the top seven, but beat them we have to.

      Premier League Stats 2016-17

Average passes per game: Us 603 Them 370

      Crosses: Us 177 Them 178

      Shots: Us 182 Them 114

Cross Accuracy: Us 19% Them 24%

Clean Sheets: Us 1 Them 3

Errors leading to goals: Us 3 Them 1

Troy Deeney and Etienne Capoue have scored 7 of their league goals and they both have an assist.

For Liverpool James Milner is back in contention.  I'd bring both him and Wijnaldum back for this one.

      Karius

      Clyne, Matip, Lovren, Milner

      Henderson, Wijnaldum

      Mane, Lallana, Coutinho
      Firmino

As I said in the 'difficult 8 game start is over' thread. 3 points in this is a must with Arsenal and Spurs playing eachother, giving us a chance to create a gap/bigger gap between one/both of them.

Milner and Gini back in for this one for me.

Woohoo!!!  Another game against a team similar in style to CP, quick on the break, big bruisers up front with yet another defense for our dinamos up front to run rings around and befuddle with their trickery.

Another win and 3 points needed as 2 of our rivals will drop points as they play each other.  Keep the pressure up, keep in touch with the leaders and see how the weekend unfolds.  We've had some favourable results go for us recently but we have to do our job too, something we're becoming quite adept at doing.

Come on weekend, hurry the F**k up  :D

Watford have some decent attacking players so that is where the danger lies for us. Agree that Milner will be back in. I hope Gini is back in too as I think he makes a very big difference to our ability to keep the ball and start the attack (more than finishing it). I guess the selection choice is Gini vs. Emre, kind of like the matador vs. the bull. Sometimes the bull is what you want, but Gini adds something almost hard to describe to beginning and maintaining the attack.

I don't mean by the above that Emre has no quality on the ball - of course he does. It is, as we've said many times on here, a good dilemma for Klopp to have. I'll go with a 2-1 thrashing.

Have to agree with the sentiments regarding Gini and Milner, both should return to the side, can't see Twatford posing to many worries in fact I can see handing out a proper Twatting, tw*t is my view on things,

                                Karius
           Clyne Matip Lovren Milner
               Henderson Wijnaldum
                            Lallana
               Mane Firmino  Coutinho

C'mon Redmen let's close the goal diff gap and absolutely smash the F**k out of sh*t side, put them in their place.

I see another 3 points on the cards here. Going for a hard fought 3-1. Hopefully Milner will be back in place as well, although Moreno had a fairly good game against palace.

Can't be too hard on them. They did let us have John Barnes all those years ago after all. 900k...

They also sold us a goalie (he was useless) Dave Underwood in the 1950s so on the basis of that I say we should thrash them.

Nothing much to fear for us apart from our propensity for the idiotic like Lovrens brain fart last week.

Just looking at their last 5 games that they have played against relegation fodder inc the 3 promoted teams.
Scored just 2 goals in their last 3 games and one of these was a own goal to beat Hull at home where they couldn't even muster a shot on target!

Confident this will be a clean sheet and a easy win for the Red Men........." waits for usual culprits posting about banana skins and the sort".

Be nice to get up big and early which would allow a Studge/Origi + one other to get some playing time; I think Gini will start so perhaps Can could come on and continue building on what he has done the past few matches.

Will be interesting who starts out of Can and Gini as Can is currently holding the shirt and I thought played well against a big physical side like Palace, so does he retain the shirt against another tall physical side who have roughed us up previously?

Either way great to have the option of both available.

Heard that one said before our first game of the season against Arsenal. Actually come to think of it I heard it before Burnley away. Spurs as well. Oh and Leicester. Chelsea too! Oh and then there was Hull - people said it before that game as well! There was Swansea as well, can't remember who said it but it was definitely said! And there was that silly sausage who said it before our big home match against Man Utd. And who can forget that fella who said it before West Brom? He never stopped banging on about it! Oh and it was said before the Palace match last week but the fact it was said is neither here nor there.

Crucial to Dejans performance will be having Milner to his left.

His overcompensation for Moreno lack of defensive ability shatters an sllrrasy fragile mental state quite quickly.

Not that he will be allowed any service by our midfield but a pregnant women's bowels move quicker than Troy Deeny; the man couldn't turn in a coal yard...

This should be even easier than Palace.

Some team is owed an absolute pasting by us like we handed out to Hull and it may as well be Watford, if we get a bit more luck with our finishing then we could easily see a 4 or even 5-1 score here but I'll settle for any kind of win. I would also be very pleasantly surprised if we keep a clean sheet.

They had two good wins back in September at home to United and then away at West Ham but we should be beating these comfortably. To be fair to Watford, they haven't conceded a goal in their last 3 league games though. They might have played three sh*te teams, but we've played two of those teams ourselves this season an they both score against us!

Les get a clean sheet and lets put 3 or 4 past them.

      Team picks itself

      Karius

      Clyne
      Lovren
      Matip
      Milner

We've the tendency to give at least one goal to the opposition. So not betting on a clean sheet realistically even though still keeping fingers crossed for one. But we will definitely out score them. Let's go out and smash them to pieces.

Won't be taking anything for granted against these as I'm sure they'll give us a battle, but we should overpower them over the 90 minutes, looking forward to being on the Kop and cheering the lads to victory and another vital 3 points.

I was at Vicarage Road last season when they battered us and although we beat them in the return fixture at Anfield 2-0 that game still gives me nightmares, I'm hoping for a battering from us on Sunday as revenge

Expecting a full strength team with Milner back in the fold, and a few goals from our superb front 3  :kop5cf8koxp6:

No mate, I get that it is cliched but it is true. Games which we may have struggled with In the past are becoming more important. So far ( and touching the biggest piece of wood I can find! ) we seem to be getting much better, and I hope the trend continues.

The pessimism of being a Liverpool fan I suppose after so many false dawns of the past two decades!

Absoutely Jed, a nice early goal takes the pressure off big time and we can play our game the Liverpool way  ;) I think Jürgen has got the players fired up before each game no matter who were playing and it's great to see that passion which sadly has been lacking, you can tell they're all more than up for it.....just have to keep that momentum going throughout the whole season and see where we are come May.

Hope Lilli has a lovely birthday, saw the pics on FB  ;D

If we are going to win the league, every single week we are going to be looking at these 'must win' games. It's how we deal with that pressure that's important.

Fancy us to steamroll these though, at Anfield, we're on fire and let's be honest, they're a bit sh*te aren't they?

Liverpool fans guidebook rule #249 - Every time the reds play a team that's not Man City/Man United/Chelsea/Arsenal/Everton the game must be described as a "must win" game and we must be "looking to win them"

Rule #250 - When playing Man City/Man United/Chelsea/Arsenal/Everton you must say "form goes out of the window"and therefore rule #249 does not apply.

I agree. Klopp though seems to be Instilling a robustness about them. I think, despite his TV persona he is a ruthless b***ard and it must be paying off. Swansea for example, a goal down at half time to go on and win it. That is, as you rightly say the mentality that we need if we are to still be in the running come March.

And yes, they are a bit sh*te!

Banana skins, Must win games, Take advantage of our rivals setbacks, keep the momentum going, wining breeds wining, its the consistency we need,
      Any more anyone ?
The way I see it, we're looking impressive, we're wining more often than not. We're scoring more than we concede, but we need to realise, lower sides, mid table sides, our closest rivals. They are all must win games if we wanna win the prem.
Unless of course we are 10 points clear with 3 games to go, then I'll relax,  Well just a bit.
We certainly got to win on Sunday, and i'm going for an enphatic 3 - 0 to the Reed Men.  ;D

As I said in the 'difficult 8 game start is over' thread. 3 points in this is a must with Arsenal and Spurs playing eachother, giving us a chance to create a gap/bigger gap between one/both of them.

Milner and Gini back in for this one for me.

Not sure our gengen pressing tactic is as cut and dried as people think. Listening to some of jurgens pressies, it seems he studies the opposition in some detail looking for thier strong and vulnerable points, then changing tactics to counter them. The press is ever present but the instructions to individuals always has a subtle change to make the most of the press, and strengthen our defence where necessary.
Jürgen is more astute than some people take on board.

Would prefer to see Wijnaldum back in the side in place of Can but he did score the first against Palace and Klopp might stay loyal to him. He won't stay loyal to Moreno though and Milner coming back in is a must. I hate the international break but I'll enjoy it a lot more knowing we kept the pace with City who I expect to win & Arsenal who at the moment should have too much for Spurs!

Keep our nerve tomorrow and we could end the day top and clear.

That psychologically would give a few tremors to the rest of the League.

City dropped two points this afternoon and the Arse have a derby game against the Spuds tomorrow.

We've another international break apparently so its more important than ever if we can get top spot for over that period.

Kind of huge game. We can open some gap between us and City. I don't care too much about Arsenal or Tottenham for they don't have the talent to run away from us, only City has and they just lost 2 points we should take advantage of by winning our game. Watford is no gimme, but we play at home, our lads should smell a PL title by now, Klopp is on fire, we are on fire...let's do this!!!

For the game itself I hope to see Karius further evolving and our defense to put up a clean show without the usual bullshit play. I don't worry for our offense, if they just are patient enough.

Looking forward to being back on the Kop after being in the new main stand for the Spurs game, won't be a walkover but as long as we score more than they do we're smiling  ;)

Would be good to keep a clean sheet though but as long as we put 3 more points on the board and maybe sitting pretty at the top going into yet another pointless break then I'll be one happy kopite  :kop5cf8koxp6:

We need to be ruthless and not under estimate Watford. They don't concede many and will need some hard work to break them down. Bang in 2 goals before half time and they will open up more while we need to tighten up things at the back. We have to start scoring more goals from now as the goal advantage may come in handy at the end of the day.

Man City has shown some strain of late while Chelsea has slowly creeped up the table while I foresee Arsenal and Spurs will start to loose some games. Hence, we have to make sure that we remain consistent ourselves and not have any hiccups.

Our best X1 imo, so no reason we won't see it unless the boss prefers Can for Gini, Twatford are no pushovers however I think we should prove to strong for them, I'd be happy with a 1-0, but we're due to give someone a proper tonking so it could be 4 or 5 just as easily,
Going top will certainly send a message but the scary thing is I don't think we're playing at our optimum yet.

      3-0 Mighty Reds

Potential banana skin, one of those mid table teams we should beat, but can sometimes cause us problems. Hope we score early to show those days of inconsistency are well and truly over.
      3-1 Reds.

Looking forward to this - let's get at them and make Anfield hell.

That's the way it should be for everyone who visits - sore from the off and have them begging for the final whistle.
