We never really looked liked scoring did we.On the bright side Southampton must be kicking themselves with only having a 1 goal advantage to bring to Anfield.

I think I heard we didn't have an attempt on target in that 2nd half. Seems like it though, and I don't recall Sturridge ever having a clear shot or run at goal. Unbelievable.

We are the luckiest team right now, our worst bit of form has come at the best time possible we have been absolutely sh*t in the last 3 games and somehow still in a good position in all competitions. We have somehow gained a point on Chelsea, FA Cup replay against Plymouth and only a goal down and at home in the league cup semi.

We could have easily been 4th in the league and out of both the cups and title race and in the usual dogfight for 4th 5th 6th position.

Well, when you look at it like that.

We are absolutely clueless when a cross comes in, which it inevitably does when they play 8 behind in defence

We this week we reached a tipping point with number of players playing out of position or being unavailable (Coutinho, Firminho, Mane, Lallana, Henderson and Matip) and it showed. I really don't think we can play worse than this!

Bright side: we now have two goalies playing fairly well... latest for now.

We desperately need a Mane replacement which will also bring Bobby back to the middle, whether that's Ojo or a new player, only the boss knows.

The only way we're gonna score against them is probably by a freak penalty. They would be happy to hold out and it's our destiny to play 120 minutes, 3 days before the Chelsea game

      Glass half full.

But we are blessed to come out of that leg only one goal down.

Wish I was as positive as you. We have been poor for the last 3 games. That means poor form.

Just hope we can pick it up on Sunday.

I think it's really hard to say anything about the Plymouth match in reference to the other matches considering the side we fielded.

      Not good enough that.

See people so quick to jump in on Lucas. Yes, his legs have gone and yes he needs replacing - that's replacing and not just sold or loaned out - but apart from a few times when his ability to sprint was called upon I thought he was probably our best outfield player. If that doesn't tell you that we have F**k all in terms of strength in depth then I don't know what will.

He was certainly head and shoulders above Gini and Can, anyway.

Karius - look, I understand people praising him but I don't think he was exceptional like everybody has made out. That save before the goal was decent but I'd expect my goalkeeper to do what he done - if it went in I wouldn't have blamed him, though.

That second save, if that goes in from the shot that came straight at him then I'd be blaming him. It was straight at him and it should really be bread and butter for a keeper at this level to make sure that stays out when right at him. I also thought his all round play apart from that was very good and he done what he was supposed to do, well.

The big thing is that he done what he was supposed to do as a goalkeeper. He wasn't doing that before he got dropped.

Struggling to find many positives from tonight beside Cou returning.

      All in all?

      sh*te.

Poor game, but again its hard when teams defend with 10 men. ;D.

As noted above we have got lucky playing badly and still being in a decent position in 2 cups and the league.

Also as noted above, missing Hendo & Mane.

Bonus tonight coutinho coming back and Karius having a good game.

      Well Karius was good.

Karius 7 (8 but he came for that cross and flapped)

      Clyne 6.5 (no impact)
Klavan 6.5 (one mistake lead to a goal, otherwise, pretty good)
Lovren 7 (one of the more solid performers for the most part)
Milner 6.5 (feel sorry for the midfielder, works tirelessly, was busy but little to no end product)

Lucas 6 (no pace, gets turned too easily, no creativity)
      Wijnaldum 6 (no impact)
Can 7 (didn't go hiding, tried to make inroads but went missing a bit too much)

      Lallana 6 (no impact)
      Sturridge 5.5 (no impact)
Firmino 6 (not much more impact)

Origi 5.5 (no impact, not much time for anything)
      Coutinho 6.5 (rusty)

Klopp 6 (little to work with off the bench)

Are we starting to look leggy? Is our high tempo pressing game catching up with us? I'm not saying it is, I'm just wondering. Because as someone (can't remember who; might have been Anfield Wrap) asked the question, when was the last time we played well? It's not just this game, I've been wondering about it last game too. Might be due to Mane's absence, but we are looking a pale reflection of the side we were earlier on.

As for Utd away, right now I think I'd take a draw.

Easily the worst performance under Klopp that for me as some said we could have played another 90 and wouldn't have scored.

Absolute rubbish across the park Can, Lucas, Gini, Lallana, Firmino, Sturridge, Klavan.

Defense was too slow midfield atrocious and Sturridge didn't look interested.

Lucky to come away with a 1 goal deficit.

I agree it's hard when teams defend with 10 men, but it's up to us to counter that. Until we do that's how teams will play us!

Sorry, but the amount of sh*t Lucas is getting is absurd. He played decent and made a lot of interceptions, headers and distributed well when he played the DM role, and even the latter part of the game when we were susceptible to the counter because we were chasing the game, what did he do wrong? I get that he got beat for pace and slipped, but why did Klopp have him play the CB role in the latter stages when we all know he lacks pace and stamina?

I am actually curious to know, what was so bad about Lucas' performance overall compared to the other players such as, Can, Lallana, Sturridge, Wijnaldum and Firmino who played really poor.

Oh, I was one who voted Lucas because I thought he was our best player on the park.

What I said last week after the Sunderland game.

      We were poor tonight

We lacked any pace in our game, not in the simplest terms of Mane but pace of everything, pace of movement, pace and zip of passing, all just too static, they sat in to hit us on the break and were fairly comfortable, they seemed to out number us every time we got the ball, but we weren't snappy and quick enough with the ball to pull them around and make space.

We had too many players who were 10% off of it tonight, who just looked slow and out of form. Sturridge never got into it, his touch and pace were none existent, Can's touch was woeful, it took him a couple of touches to get it under before he could even begin to look and by then he was surrounded. Origi the same when he came on...

They filtered us down Milners side and banked on their unit of a keeper plucking floated crosses out of the air which he did all night.

Coutinho looked like a lad who's missed 6 weeks when he came on and understandably so

I thought Lallana was lively but no one was on his wavelength all game.. Lucas did well and I thought the keeper probably had his best game for the club.

We look flat at the minute, the sooner we get back to form the better.

Disappointing but the tie isn't over, but it's going to take a massive effort second leg now, we need a fast start

I just want to see us start to shift it quicker again, zip passes to each other, quick one touch in and around, that was really lacking tonight
