Well you can scratch the league and this team in this form is not going much further in the fa cup.

Buy players?  WHO?  Who'd have made a difference, who's available or temptable?  Confidence has gone, that's clear.

It's not for us to come up with the list of targets, that's what scouts are for. They travel the world watching games of football for this very reason. It's irrelevant what names we do or don't come up with.

I've had a many decent night to be fair dude, you just need to know where to go. My phones off coz the abuse is landing already. A truly sh*t day ahead for me tomorrow.

Only silver lining might be a more concerted effort to spend some f**king money and bring a couple of players in.

I want to uni in Southampton, best 3 years of my life. St Mary's had just been built. I stayed right next to it.

I remember a club called Rhinos which was wicked.

I was in a bar called Varsity the night Gerrard scored the wonder goal against Olympiakos and the whole place went mental, and I was the only Liverpool supporter in there

Lost to a team who were there for the taking and a good team would have beaten them comfortably,  it's so galling that we have lost to a pretty awful team

You look at Spurs and you think we are no where near that level.

Spurs have had a good season or two more to gel in our defence.  A bit more resilience last year and they could have won the title.

Did well Southampton - they probably should have finished the tie in the first leg.  Disappointing.

We can complain about the referee and all that but anything less than a Southampton victory throughout the 180 minutes would have been a scandal.

Regardless if Southampton deserved the win, the ref still had no balls. tapping your watch when players are blatantly wasting time for 90 minutes, isn't the way to manage a spectator sport.

Oh if only it was that simple, don't remember him being so great last 2 months.  Looks like we're the last to realize teams have sussed us .

      Are you joking?

Mane was in great form before he left for AFCON.

Or is it just a MASSIVE coincidence we can't score for sh*t since he left?

When's the last time one of our players ran at the defence? Pass side to side around the box trying to walk it in, we been found out, and were easy to defend against.

We don't really have any players that can do that mate, Mane is really the only one in the whole squad with that in his locker. But then that's what transfer windows are for.

Don't think anyone with the slightest bit of common sense can blame all this crap on the fact that Mane is missing.
There's a lot more to it than that.

We are becoming similar to the performances in Rogers last couple of months.

Easy to defend against, and easy to score against.

To say we don't need a few players in is deluded.

First my week end fu**ed up, now the rest of my week fu**ed up.

As you say to suggest the F**k up is down to Mane's absence is folly, for whatever reason we have a majority of potential and squad players.

Learning experience, I don't mean that in a throw away sense. I'm still learning why the F**k we have so many leftovers from BR era when tv money escalated. I'm still learning about Klopps tactics. I'm still learning where that balance is.
Lets use an analogy in a computer game. if you have a player who can only be mastered to a certain level and that's their limit you might look for others that can exceed that and further be improved upon.

      Such as?

Bring in all those great youngsters that we saw in such sterling form against the mighty Exeter?

Entice 15 top players to throw hissy fits so that they can leave their current clubs to join us?

Well, can't have any complaints. They could've won by more in fairness over the two legs.
We lacked quality and a bit of composure. Studge had two good chances, should have done better.
Thought Matip looked really shaky, been out a while tho, TAA did OK, as did Milner, Lovren OK too.
Can came closest to a goal, did OK, Hendo OK, and Lallana improved in 2nd half.
Cou was patchy, thought was quieter 2nd half, Firmino worked, and Studge, see above, Origi hardly touched the ball.

You could seriously have taken of a CB, and put Hendo there, Saints sat back so deep.
Or why not throw a CB up front for the last 10, get some balls up into them, cause a bit of mayhem, look for a break.
Very little options off the bench, but we need to think of some way to break teams down, do something differently, lot of home matches coming up.

Disappointed, but more concerned that we turn this around as soon as we need to try and keep pace in the PL.

Watch it.  This forum turns into North Korea when anyone calls Henderson out for the rubbish player he is.

Anyway, it's really not the end of the world, league cup has become a joke competition anyway.

Let's move on and focus on the league.

Even by your standards that is F***ing bollocks, not the end of the world ? , just F**k off

Well, judging by our atrocious form going into this, did anyone really think we were 'gonna batter these'. Of course not. A scrappy win would have done, but even that is beyond our capabilities. Well done to Southampton who thoroughly deserved it and showed what a pathetic bunch some of our lads are (Emre Can in particular you shameless money grabbing toe rag).

And what do we expect? No width, no pace, with an absolute clunker of a player called Emre Can who can't create anything if his life depended on it.

Terribly unbalanced as a result of - yet again - no depth in the squad.

Because you can't just change an entire squad over 1 summer. Re-building takes time. All well and good buying a load of new players but then you just find yourself like City for the majority of their time since being taken over.

This is what pisses me off the most!,no one seemed to want to run at there defense and take players on,we where to one dimensional and to methodical in our approach.

Thought he should have booked Forster for it, defo.  The pen looked clear on TV, Atkinson prob not best positioned but linesman was.

Rhino's is still there! Always been a good night, Varsity shut a year or two ago. There's still some good spots up at Bedford Place and London although I don't get out to em quite so often. Considered going the pub to watch the game tonight having seem the first leg at St Mary's but glad I thought better of it.
