      Mane at the AFCON Watch
      Jan 28, 2017 09:09:10 pm
I'm clutching at straws but f**k it.

I'll be honest, the better man in me tells me I should want him to do well here but I don't.

I want Senegal out and this thread to last no more than the night.

Currently playing Extra Time at 0-0 against Cameroon.

He'd give this squad a lift.

Any reason behind that, or is it just FIFA being pathetic?

I suppose the travelling and time shift would make it difficult to get into routine so soon for the Chelsea match.

Honestly don't know, just read it the other day.

Like you say even without that rule I doubt we'd see him Tuesday anyway.. To be honest I'd only expect to see him on the bench for Hull if I'm honest

Even so I'd doubt it anyway. He lookd destroyed there. Completely in bits and he'd only get home tomorrow or Monday.

All banter aside, I'm gutted for him there now it's actually happened. Especially in the way it happened.

Ach, he shouldn't be too disappointed. For sure, its gut wrenching, but he often carries that team on its own. He'll eventually reap the rewards of his efforts.

Me too, I wanted him back asap, but I didn't want that to happen to the lad.. That's why I said I'd only really expect to see him in the bench for Hull.. Think Jürgen will bring him back softly after that especially

Isn't that if you fail to attend, as per Matip !
Regardless if you've been retired from inters for 2 years. F***ing tw*ts.

I had the feeling that he was gonna miss his penalty and kept telling myself "please anyone else but Mane".
But overall I think he's done enough for Senegal anyway. Played a big part in helping them get to the quarter-final. Being assigned to take the last penalty put lots of pressure on him. Even the best players miss it from the spot.
He deserves a rest though so no chance we'll see him against Chelsea unless he specifically asks Jürgen so.

May well be mate, I'd just read something recently and I thought it was all players... But I was only skim reading

He won't play anyway, I'd imagine Jürgen may well give a few days off, possibly back for the bench for Hull but that might still be pushing it if he doesn't arrive back in England til later in the week

Glad to see him on the education back, even though, feel for the way he finished the tournament.
Still don't see him performing miracles for us on his own.
He will give us s missing dimension, but I somehow think our currrnt problems lie deeper than missing Mane.

Yeah - our problems do run deeper than one player. We never had a few weeks like this under Jürgen last season - it was characterised by a Jekyll and Hyde inconsistency but nonetheless we were able to come out of every one in two matches heralding the brilliance of a Lallana, Firmino, Origi, Coutinho etc. Heck sometimes all of them would be acclaimed like in those home victories against Man City and Man Utd in the Premier and Europa Leagues respectively. We been so poor of late because nobody is showing even a flicker of good quality. You can have Mane back but such results will not change until we start seeing some good performances from those players listed who we know can perform.

BUT, Mane is such an excellent player that he can offer that spark that relights the flame within this team. As The Boss  sung 'You can't light a fire without a spark'!

so its sorted that. yet again, a 1 man reliant club.   I agree that pace is the common factor  of beatin ' park the bus' teams, so why does'nt  Jürgen ?
We've been beaten 3 times on the trot, becauese they are pacier than us , and faster thinking.

The guy will probably need at least 48 hours to get that miss out of his system

Mane coming home was always going to be after he misses a penalty for his country after extra time in a quarter final. It's just been that sort of month.

Now park the bus against us!

      Gutted for the lad.
If he's thinks he's pissed off now wait until he gets back and sees what his teammates have done.

Hopefully angry enough to propel us back into the title race.

If he had got through to the semis wouldn't have been able to watch it as looks like eurosport and discovery channels won't be on sky platform anymore

No, I'm pretty sure he can't play for five days after their country are elimated which would mean Hull being the first he's available for

I think the 5 days is only if you haven't played, so if the Matip situation hadn't been resolved it would have been 5 days.  Could be wrong though.

Haha. Funny lad. I feel for the guy, because as a true LFC fan, I support the players too and hope they do well. That said, I now look forward to having him with the rest of the squad.

Is he our Saviour now? That's pretty ridiculous no?

On another note FMS, grow up a little.
