Couts MoM easily, but a fantastic performance from Sturridge for sure. All round some good performances, but they're the two standouts...

Shoutout to Gini and Divock for their two powerhouse strikes that hit the woodwork.

Almost there! Another clean sheet, Coutinho magical and we look 10x more threatening with Sturridge in the team.

Now we need to go all out against a very very defensive side in Middlesborough.

Lost count in the end. Was it 5 times against the bar?  :f_doh:

To be fair, Gini's bamboozled the whole West Ham defence and keeper and set up Coutinho beautifully....  ;D

      Ratings:

Migs: 6.5 Didn't really have much to do, gave a couple of poor passes away but commanded his box well again. Had to push one wide that didn't look too difficult and think he could have come out and caught the cross which resulted in their corner which led to the Ayew chance.

Clyne 5.5 Slightly better, but still nothing in attack, gave away the cheap corner for their biggest chance and got skinned far too easily early on. As the match wore on though he had little to do and did that.

Matip 8 Thought he was our best defender on the day, some nice challenges, good passing and very unlucky not to score after doing everything you're told to do on one header. Had a couple more half chances and is a real threat from set pieces.

Lovren 7 Decent game, did try and jump in front when it wasn't on, most noticeably on a couple of headers which just flew straight over him, other than that was better than in recent times.

Milner 6 Thought his industry was commendable and put in a few very good challenges but was really poor when it came to crossing and has to be replaced in the summer.

Can 7.5 Decent game again by Emre, won his fair share of duels, got his tackles in where he needed to and all in all controlled it well from the middle.

Gini 6 Thought he had a dreadful first half, really, really poor. Did come out a different player in the second half though and really unlucky with that volley that came off the bar, reminded me of one by Markovic a couple of years ago, deserved a goal but it led straight to Cou's second so not too bad. Don't like how he disappears though.

Coutinho 9.5 What a performance, needed to score the free-kick to get a 10, but that's as close as you're going to see. Gorgeous goals, brilliant assist, all around game was top drawer lad. Pure class, now accept no offers in the summer for this lad and keep him in that 8 role, suited him down to the ground.

Lallana 7.5 Thought he quietly had a very good game, unlucky not to score with the turn and shot created plenty of opportunities for others and good to get him back in the side, gives us so much. Probably received the lowest amount of praise out of our attackers today yet was crucial to us, well played Adam.

Sturridge 8 Thought he started slow, getting caught offside a couple of times when he really shouldn't but the 3rd time he got it spot on. Granted Fonte gave him a few yards to work with that should never have been there but Danny punished him in the best way possible. Cou found him with a great pass and then it was all Sturridge, that's what he does better than probably anyone in the league, 1v1 you'd never bet against him. Should have scored soon after with a chance right on the penalty spot on his left but his movement and passing were lovely to watch today. The game seemed to be played at a slower pace and it suited him. Was one occasion where he could have been away and the old Sturridge would have had a hat-trick today, still good to see the quality is still there and in truth I bet there's nobody more frustrated with those chances that go begging than him. Well in Studge.

Origi 6 (Thanks for the heads up! :D ) Thought he had a better game and certainly got his shots off better from that side of the attack. Should have passed for an easy Sturridge goal and should have got more out of him, would easily step aside if Bobby is fit for the game against Boro in my book. Good for him to get the goal, but could have had another one or two I thought.

Klopp 8.5 Had a difficult job to rejig the team and come up with a formation that suited and he got it spot on. There was only one team that deserved to win that game and in truth we deserved it by a couple more. Haven't beaten the Hammers in the last 5 but that stat was put to bed well and truly after that display. Couldn't have been much more comfortable than it was in the end and delighted with that, well in Jürgen.

Now finish the job against Boro and get ourselves back where we belong.

Just seen that we've kept 4 clean sheets in our last 5 games. We'd kept 7 clean sheets in the 32 games before that.

What a shame -- the doom merchants won't have anything to post about for a few days....

Great performance and result!!  Coutinho is more suited to a central midfield role than a wide attacking role, although he's good anywhere he plays.  Studge showed that some things are just instinct and cannot be taught.  Roll past Boro and were back in the CL for next season!!
