Anfield waiting to show it's worth

Starting XI: Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Matip, Milner, Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge

Subs: Karius, Moreno, Grujic, Alexander-Arnold, Lucas, Klavan, Origi

Roberto Firmino starts as Liverpool make one change for this afternoon’s final-day Premier League encounter with Middlesbrough.

The Brazil forward replaces Divock Origi in attack for the clash at Anfield, in which a victory for the Reds will secure a place in next season’s Champions League qualifiers.

Jürgen Klopp has selected an otherwise unaltered line-up from the team deployed in last weekend’s 4-0 win at West Ham United.

Sturridge keeping his place and not Origi with Firmino coming back to the team, says a lot!

Firmino and Origi just really don't work well together.

Interesting to see Firmino straight back in. Puts the whole 'player needs 100% fitness to start a match' Sturridge argument aside.

Concern would be that Firmino and Sturridge do not in my mind go well together. Generally means Sturridge is up front alone again. But, hoping to be blown away by an outstanding team performance and to be shown up by how well Danny and Bobby play together.  ;D

No excuses today. I predict a comfortable, goal scoring victory. I also predict Everton to beat Arsenal.  :D Lets do it in style!

Wish I could also predict a win for Watford vs Man City... but I don't think I can go that far!!

Firmino hasn't been out for months, years, decades etc, where as Sturridge has been.

Firmino hasn't been out for months, years, decades etc, where as Sturridge has been.

Sure, there is a difference, but Firmino has not been training until maybe the past day or two? Klopp wasn't even clear he would be fit enough for the game which usually means on the bench at best. Suddenly, he's good to start.

Klopp says: "After coming from injury, if you could immediately play 90 minutes that would be perfect. But, unfortunately in football, the real match is too intense that you can work that hard in training."

So happy to have this game on TV here in Canada instead of trying to watch the game on some dodgy feed today.  Hopefully this is a sign of more good things to come!  Great lineup, excited for a proper smashing!  Come on Reds!
