Anyone caring about his sell-on value is not a fan of LFC IMHO.

Let's sign him up on a new contract, continue to get the best years out of this magnificent player, then thank him when he eventually leaves/retires.

Let the money-men at the club worry about the money.

The memories/goals/assists he's give us the last 4 years or so have been worth their weight in gold.

He's already in Liverpool's top 5 players ever for me, with more to come.

      ALL HAIL THE EGYPTIAN KING!!!

As things apparently stand there will have to be a major change in attitude from either the agent or FSG if our man is to remain at LFC for the foreseeable future.

      Agreed.

Even Ā£300k is a big difference to the Ā£220k that Virg is on.

But as folk have rightly said, he is the best player in the world just now, would cost a fortune to get anyone close to wee mo, so perhaps the bumper new deal will save them money in the long run. especially as Mo is just getting better. :-)

If he doesn't sign a new contract, there will be "scenes"!

This was in the Echo yesterday.

      Quote
the Redsā€™ owners want to wrap up a new deal before the January transfer window and are preparing a club-record deal worth Ā£350,000-a-week including bonuses.

Salah, whose current Anfield contract runs out in the summer of 2023, wants to commit his future until 2026 it was claimed.

Needs to be a change in stance from them both IMO. His agent comes across a tw*t and tries to pass himself off like heā€™s another Raiola and our owners need to realise some players you have to break a wage structure/policy for.

The situation is basically like fighting fire with fire so I donā€™t expect a resolution any time soon.

You can see the pitchforks and knives sharpening for the owners - the demands that Salah is paid what he wants etc - but we as a club canā€™t just give into every players demands - in fact no player should ever get exactly what they want , thatā€™s the sort of attitude that fecked up Barce .

The club and player will find a middle ground and he will get a very nice new wage and contract that is acceptable to both parties

Itā€™s mad, we didnā€™t really sign anyone as the idea was to invest in contracts.

Wellā€¦ this is the key contract to get over the line. Like previous posters have said, it would cost Ā£200m to replace Salah.

And the club will know that, so a 70m wages deal to keep Salah for another 4 or 5 years, is actually no bad business.

Good grief, get the freaking contract sorted.

I wish people would stop panicking over this. He's not about to pack his bags tomorrow. If it goes on for another 12 months, there the mass panic would be justified.

His salary should not be an issue, he already has more than enough to live a very comfortable life. He's probably just negotiating how much spare change will go to fund more hospitals in Egypt or something.

I'm not sure how you've come to the conclusion that anyone is panicking. But then I don't know how you come to any of your conclusions, so I guess that shouldn't be a surprise.

Why not? Itā€™s possible if he goes for Ā£130-200m one to two summers later. Based on these numbers, Ā£400k is very doable. Iā€™m saying FSG would monetise him eventually. Itā€™s probably taboo amongst us here. But me point is if the exit strategy is >Ā£100m, a Ā£400k wage is still possible. Theyā€™d probably earn less than a Ā£300k wage, but FSG would still make money from his sale.

Ok letā€™s just talk about signing him on and not selling him. Weā€™d have our cake and eat it.

Clearly he should be the highest paid player on the team as the team has centered the offense around him more than anyone else. How much more than the next player is up to the team to decide, but there needs to be compromise from both parties.

Van Dijk, arguably the best CB in the sport, extended his contract over the summer without a fuss and is now making 220K a week (per what i have seen reported online), when players like Alaba, De Ligt, and others make more than that. He didn't make any noise about wanting to be the highest or one of the highest paid CBs in the world but rather saw the big picture of a still very lucrative contract, playing for Liverpool and Klopp.

Let's hope Mo does something similar and an agreement that helps both parties can be reached.

Already stated why Ruth, FSG. They just won't break their pay structure even though currently playing the best football of his life.

Do you remember when players like Rush left 🤷ā€ā™‚ļø Keegan ? The club moves on - itā€™s bigger than one player and will never be held to ransom by one player regardless of how good that player is

Can't see that happening, he may become your biggest earner but I just can't see FSG going over 300k. He will sign, it's just finding the middle ground.
