I’m not worried in the slightest about him leaving for a number of reasons:
- I don’t believe he is the type of player to have his head turned by the likes of Madrid/Barca etc. He stated his reason for leaving Roma was that he wanted to play in the Premier League and I think he wants to stay here.
- I think he is clever enough to know (in fact, I think he has alluded to it on many occasions) that the way we play allows him to be the player he is at the moment. He will cerainly not get that freedom at almost any other club, particularly Madrid. Look at Bale wasting away on the bench.
- His form, and the fact that he has been here for under a year, means that his fee would be ridiculous. We would be able to demand almost any fee we wanted - I’m talking breaking the transfer record. For us to let a player go 1 year in to his contract, when said player is so important to us, would be unheard of. Players like Suarez, Torres and Coutinho were here for 3,4 and 5 years respectively.
Don’t panic guys, he is here for a good few years yet. And I’m sure because he wants to rather than he needs to.
