Decent run out that. Would have expected more from Gini, Grujic and Hendo in midfield in both halves or am I being too harsh?
Not being too harsh at all, I agree. Maybe Grujic and Hendo are feeling the effects of the first week of training after both being injured for quite some time? I can imagine the lads have had it pretty rough so far under Klopp and his fitness team! I'm not really worried about Wijnaldum, I was watching the midfield three of him, Coutinho and Lallana closely and it was more a pass and move training exercise than anything else. They were constantly moving in a circle and picking up eachother's positions. His passing was waaay of though tonight. Probably no coincidence that Grujic, Wijnaldum and Hendo looked a bit off as they have been at Melwood since the start of preseason and Lallana and Coutinho have only just arrived?
First half:As Luke said earlier, it was an enjoyable first half, even if we didn't manage to score more than one. Some lovely play with Coutinho, Lallana, Firmino and Salah all involved. Nice of Firmino to put it on a plate for Salah, easy goal on his debut! You can instantly see what Salah has to offer to this team, it will be very exciting to watch when everyone is fully fit.
Trent AA looked great again too. Against teams that sit deep he could be of much more use than Clyne by the looks of it. He looks so much more comfortable with the ball at his feet compared to Clyne. Think I'd still prefer Clyne in the big games though, but Trent is making a good case to start a fair few games in the league.
Second half:Pretty poor second half. Thought Henderson and Sturridge should have done more. You'd expect Sturridge to bury that chance at the end, completely missed his shot. Origi looked lively with some good touches and it's great to see young Joe Gomez being fit again.
