When defending set pieces, put the 5'6"" defender on the 5'6" attacker, and the 6'4"" defender on the 6'4"" attacker. Stay goal side, lean on the fuvker, block his run, attack the ball and generally defend like your life depended on it. Bollocks to marking space and fresh air, pick up a man and F***ing bully him off his game.
There, now we might not concede at every set piece!
      At the other end....
just keep banging them in 😁
      2:1 to the red men.

I'm not glossing over the crap that was served up on saturday guys, but it was the first game for gods sake, and sh*t happens sometimes.
Yeah same problems etc., but lets just see before pushing any panic buttons, but I hope JK, never plays that midfield ever again.
But anways, gone for a win, have faith...... I'm gonna get it big time are'nt I ?

After Saturday's debacle, I have a real sense of trepidation ahead of this game.

I hope my worries are laid to rest and we somehow show-up and pull a complete 180 from Saturday.

With that said, I think this has got to be one of the weakest squad's assembled before a gruelling domestic season and a CL one.

Bit grim this. I'm the first to admit that Watford was a shambles defence wise. I think the pessimistic outlook on the coming season is due to the fact we have failed thus far to address the glaringly obvious issues we have in defending set pieces. That and the fact our best player may be on his way out...

That being said, Watford has to be put to bed now. It was the season opener and you have to hope that things get better.

The fact this game comes so soon after the Watford one could be a blessing in terms of players having a point to prove.

Make no mistake, this isn't going to be easy. Hoffenhiem are a decent side as all sides at this stage are yet come on now, they are not exactly world beaters setting the world alight are they? I think the stat about them scoring the most goals from set pieces in the bundesliga last season has got people shitting themselves.

Do you not think they will be wary of our attack? They know all too well about Firmino who I can see scoring on his old stomping ground. They know how many goals we scored last season. They know that if they come at us and play which they will have to do on their own ground that we have the potential to destroy them on the counter.

Yes our defence is awful and needs serious work if we are going to get anywhere. As it stands though regarding this tie, it's a 2 leg knockout affair. Correct me if I'm wrong but if we score more than them, we go through, right?

I'm going for a 3-1 victory for Liverpool. Their goal will come from a set piece/general F**k up from one of our defenders. The 2 goal cushion with a few away goals should see us through at Anfield, give or take another soft goal conceded at home.

Recipe to beat mighty LFC. Stay put, defend well and LFC next inevitable defense brainfart will bring you goal or two.

Dont think the boss would really be playing a back 3, although I wish they do. Going for experience, Milner to start LB. Otherwise, pretty much the same team.

Hopefully, we do enough to have a lively/easy game back at Anfield.

      Karius
      TAA Matip Gomez Moreno
      Can Henderson
      Mane Firmino Salah
      Solanke

      I'd go with that.
Solanke would be so so up for this he would make an impact I reckon

I'd go with that but I'd play Klaven rather than Gomez. We will probably have to outscore this team as we will no doubt F**k up on set pieces again with this system. I don't know if it's me but maybe our keepers understand the system better than the outfield players. They are the ones who seem to panic when they see a player is not going to attack the ball when it comes into their zone...maybe I don't know all I know is Klopp and his staff have had enough time to drum this system into these players and it still doesn't work. They can't all be bad players or defenders so what makes us think that players that cost £50 million + are going to grasp this system straight away and improve us. These 2 games are worth alot of money to this club if we F**k up now then they shouldn't be wearing the shirt.

      Ward
      Lovern Matip
      TAA Robertson
      Hendo Grujic Can
      Salah Mane
      Bobbi

Hopefully the reason we didn't see Andy Rob is because Klopp was saving him for this game, but I doubt it. Also, am I the only one who thinks Ward is the best keeper we have? If so than pretend I wrote Karius name down  ;D

That's what I was going to say, I'd like to see just three changes to the Watford line up.

Karius, Robertson and Grujic to come in for Mignolet, Moreno and one of Can, Gini or Henderson.

Probably Gini since he does F**k all away from home.

How? Very easy, essentially the same weak squad with more games = weaker squad.
Injuries already affecting us, Coutinho absence long and short term already affecting us. Weak spots not addressed at all during transfer market. How is this not weak squad right now? Salah is just another option to already hyperactive attack.

Well you could start by backing up your argument or are you unable to do that?

from my pov we have 2 more attacking options in Salah and Solanke, we have a new specialist LB in Robertson plus Gomez as a utility defender, we have a third goalie to challenge for the gloves. We have plenty of exciting youngsters emerging into the senior team.
The only loss to the squad so far is Lucas and in all honesty that is no great loss apart from his experience.
If Coutinho stays, which I now think is likely, then he will be quickly integrated back into the squad, if he leaves that will of course be a loss but surely then we have to bring someone in to replace him.

So I ask again IN WHAT WAY IS THE CURRENT SQUAD WEAKER THIS SEASON COMPARED TO LAST????

And you've made this grand projection based on one whole game against a Watford team who i think will probably surprise a few people have a pretty good season, wow that is thorough analysis!!!

What will you say if we win comfortably today?

Watford  ??? Are you borned yesterday? This F***ing "challenge" to beat bottom teams was our curse for several seasons already. Only lazy ass not spoken about it. It's clear like water for everyone with brain. Hoffenheim is like LFC but with much better defense. Win (if) will be anything but comfortable.
