He was lucky with that through ball, literally the only thing Jordan did in the game. He was f**king sh*te.

I'd quite happily put it down to Salah's pace than anything. Anyone else in the world and Tottenham probably sweeps it up comfortably.

Not in the mood for giving anyone any credit today and certainly not Captain Hendo...yeah that's right. Captain Hendo.

      Lucky?
      Salah's finish was lucky.

This is part of the reason why I can't take a lot of what's said in here seriously.

The problem is he's one of our best midfielders and a player with his abilities should not be.

Jack of all trades master of nothing is how you could describe most of our midfielders Hendo, Gini, Can and Milner.
Not having a specialist DM is killing us and with our back line they need more protection not less which is currently what Hendo is offering in that position.

At one point in the first half, Hendo got the ball on the half way line. fourteen sideways passes (not only him) the ball was a further two yards up the pitch. We have to find a midfielder who can force the game. (I know- easier said than done!) Lets hope Keita is the answer.

Mental that Lovren and Migs practically throw the ball in our net 4 times, and Hendo is getting hammered on here. The guy did f**k all wrong. It's a measure of how one eyed people are about him that even when he's played one of the best through balls we'll see all year for our goal, people are refusing to recognise it.

You must have missed when Coutinho was in acres of space asking the ball and he side passed it to Milner.. or when Matip told him mark Kane but he didn't so Matip had to do it leading to the third goal.. hardly did f**k all wrong.

Yeah. Don't know what the f**k Jürgen or anyone else was thinking in not even considering a proper DM in the last window.

Still hurts to see Krychowiak at West Brom and wasted (similar to Masch and West ham). He would have been exceptional for us.

What, the third goal where Matip ( presumably) didn't get a shout from Mignolet to leave it, and then decided rather than head it back to Mignolet, or behind for a corner, that he'd head it back into the danger area - the one place that a CB is told never to head the ball into - and that he'd then make a show of shouting at Henderson afterwards as if it was his fault? Yeah I did see that one.

I didn't see the one where he failed to pass to Coutinho. Maybe he should have, I don't know. My point is that there are people on here so f**king desperate to blame Henderson for everything ( and to maintain the "he only passes sideways" mantra) that they are reducing themselves to saying that his clearly superb through ball for Salah's goal was lucky, or that Salah only got on the end of it cos he's quick. I'm waiting for them to say that Hendo had never noticed how quick Salah is until after he made the pass.

He’s not the reason we lost, but he certainly wasn’t the catalyst to keep us in it or get us back in the game. Pretty anonymous performances for a captain, other than that outstanding through ball.

He's going to have to be some catalyst to turn round a game where our defence coughs up 4 gift goals for the opposition. Think even Stevie might have struggled with that.

Everybody going on about a proper DM, and how our defence is being left exposed by the lack of one, should look at those 4 goals. How many of them were down to the lack of a DM? None.

Our midfielders played some part in 2 of them: Can bizarrely giving the ball away when comfortably in possession for the 3rd, and Milner running in treacle trying to track Son for the 2nd. But the truth is that with half competent defending neither of those would have been goals. And none of the 4 were down to our DM, or lack of one. And that has been the same story for the vast majority of the goals we have conceded this season. It's not been a lack of protection, its been just rank sh*te defending.

What we need to be doing is talking about the Spine, of which Henderson is a part of, not Henderson alone. Let's take a look at the top six club's spines:

City: Ederson, Stones, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Aguero/Jesus
United: De Gea, Bailly, Matic, Pogba, Lukaku
Spurs: Lloris, Alderweireld, Dembele, Eriksen, Kane
Chelsea: Courtois, Luiz, Kante, Hazard, Morata
Arsenal: Cech, Koscielny, Xhaka, Sanchez, Lacazette
Liverpool: Mignolet, Lovren/Matip, Henderson, Coutinho, Firmino

Nevermind being miles away from the rest of them in terms of points and performances this season, we're miles away from them in terms of quality. How are we meant to compete when we have what is undoubtedly the worst spine of any of the top six clubs? How the hell Klopp thinks this is sufficient quality I will never know. Out of all of those the only player who gets into any of the top six squads is Coutinho. Not a single one of the rest of them is getting near. I know a lot of you like Firmino but bloody hell, he's no where near Lacazette, Morata, Kane, Lukaku or Aguero in terms of quality or natural finishing ability. Henderson, as has been discussed on this thread, appears to have lost the ability to play a long ball and has been reduced to being Mr Sideways.

Lovren is a decent player for a Southampton, as Matip is for Schalke but with respect to those clubs, they're a far cry from where we're trying to get to. Whilst I'll be the first to admit that Cech is past his best, he's still consistently better than Mignolet. Even the most ardent Mignolet supporter cannot ignore the fact that no other Keeper in the top six has cost their team as many points as he has ours since he was signed. Henderson has undoubtedly improved since signing from Sunderland but has plateaued before reaching the required level we need him to be at to compete, and Firmino is a great player in many respects but isn't a natural finisher so isn't getting near the numbers the rest of them are - and neither is Mane and Salah is unlikely to as well before anyone uses that as an excuse. Of them only Coutinho is at the level we require and he's desperate to get away, which in fairness we can't really blame him for.

It's no coidencedence that we're not competing when we're not close to our competitors in terms of quality in the key areas of the team. Just look at our biggest problems so far this season. We're struggling to score goals, our midfield doesn't sheild the defence well enough and so our defence is leaking like an old boot. The team needs an overhaul of which signing Keita is a good start but more, much much more is needed. We need serious quality in the goalkeeping, central defence, central midfield and center forwad positions of the team. If we're going to get anywhere close to competing for honours, nevermind chellanging for the title and Europe, we need a new spine because until we do we're not going to get even close, which funnily enough for the most part, we're not.

henderson is exactly what BR made him, a captain too soon of a club too big, he's only doing his best though, you can't slate him for that.

You can't blame Rodgers either. No one is to blame for a lack of talent, they're only to blame for knowingly buying a lack of talent and it was club policy that resulted in him being bought, not a decision by Bredan Rodgers.

Not agree mate re a DM. Anyway I can just say it loosely or just as commonsense. As Klopp's system we have only 2 true defenders they're the two CB. People do some analyses about this and the conclusion was they always exposed no matter who play there (just hope the better quality player will cope with that better, so we desperately want to see the like of VvD here).

With the quality DM or better defensive CM can improve the overall defence issues. At least they can help reducing the load of opponent attacks especially through the middle. We also occasionally see a quality defensive midfielder even stop opponent attack earlier.

A DM also help release our attacking force as the attackers no need to worry that much about the defence in our half.

I am not say what a DM will or wiil not do about the 4 goals at Wembly but I believe with a top quality defensive minded midfielder the result could be much better.
