Do us a favour and keep batting Aussies. England are out of this one.

Just not suited to this cricket. Dodgy kookaburra at the vest of times and now its pink. Aussies are brought up with these conditions so their bowlers dont learn the art of swing and seam because the ball doesn't move off the straight. Instead they are bred to bowl faster. Our batsman cant deal with the bounce the same way your batsman would be skittled in England with swing and seem. Our bowlers are caddon fodder on these decks.

All over the world test cricket series are won by the home side and their seems to be a decline in batsman who can apply themselves in all conditions.

If we can draw this then it keeps the interest alive, but if we cave in it wouldn't surprise and this could go 5 nil.

      Another wicket falls.

      5-0 incoming!

EDIT: Follow-on is on the cards, too. This is magnificent.

Get 'em Patty Cummins! Penrith boy doing the business.

Nah we will comeback and win 3-2 when the pink unicorn takes 10 wickets with leg spin at Perth

This year its been a real team performance from the Aussies.runs and wickets all been shared around.

Really we need to bat time but these two at the crease are our only realistic chance of avoiding the follow on so if they score quickly and manage it then thats fine. After this wicket though it has to be a grind from our lads. Only half way through the second test match and we're staring down the barrel.

Didn't expect to bat for essentially a whole session today :D

Quick-fire runs and then smash the England batters on the way to victory. Sounds a plan :)

I did not anticipate to see us playing so defensively against the English attack.

It seems the modern trend, some ridiculous fear or something but a lot of teams are reluctant but under the lights you thought it was a no brainer, anway England realising too late the aussie batfing smith apart is pretty average

      You've got plenty already

I can see why you put us back in though. Your fasts have injury records that need protecting, they'd all ran in hard all innings and there's only 3 of them.
Still 3 tests to go, let them get their feet up and go again as dusk tomorrow.

As I said you already have plenty

Just a bit but I think Smith has got a plan to try and grind our bowlers into the dirt and to really make Broad and Jimmy knackered.

It's backfired quite humourously but for this game at least it will have no impact but hopefully put some doubt in a few players minds who were beginning to think thwy were real test class.

The games all about conditions and just as I thought these Aussies cant handle swing and seam the same way our bowlers can't get wickets without it.

If this was in England, then Australia would be 50/4 more often than not, but it aint and they aren't, and our bowlers have been unable to take wickets in batting conditions for quite a while now.

If, and its a bloody big if, England can get some more quick and cheap wickets tomorrow then it could get interesting but I expect one of the lower order Aussie batsmen to have the innings of his life again!

Having said that not following on was a stupid mistake from Smith, I don't get the logic of that. At that stage of the match England must have been so low on confidence that a couple of early wickets and they would have crumbled faster than Australia did ;-)

      Nah.

Even if they only get another 50 then they'd still win by 120-150

I'm not so sure, if England can get Australia all out for 100-120 then they have a chance I think, but they'll have to bat a hell of a lot better than they have been up to now.

This current England side? With two sessions of a probable 4 under lights? No chance

Another 32 runs takes them past 300 lead. There have only been about 30 4th innings chases in the history of cricket over 300, only 1 of them at Adelaide which was in 1902... and only 3 others of that 30 odd in Australia

      No chance

Can't see England chasing this down even if the Aussies declared overnight. The fact we were so poor in the first session does not bode well for surviving two night sessions. Shame we didn't bowl like we did this morning on the first day!

Incredibly daft decision to not make them follow on.

Wrong decision yep but to be fair the ball didn't move around anywhere near as much in the night sessions on the first two days. Aussies don't really do a follow on though really - would be interesting to know how many times they've enforced it since India beat them at Eden Gardens all those years ago.

Don't know what Steve Smith was thinking. At that time of the evening, should have put England back in. Would have had them 7 down by now!

If we lose it from here, Smith has a lot to answer for.
