Dumb cricket by Australia but its Englands turn now. Anything above 200 would shock me here.

Big time bowling to get a wicket at such a crucial time. Tell ya what though, hats off to you bas**rds. Some mind farts from the Aussies have contributed, but well in on making a match of this.

I'm not so sure, if England can get Australia all out for 100-120 then they have a chance I think, but they'll have to bat a hell of a lot better than they have been up to now.

Hmm, getting interesting, one hell of a performance from England so far to turn the game around but still a long long way to go.

I don't think England will win this test and I don't think England will win the series but the last two (mornings here - evening there) of watching the cricket have been very enjoyable!

England did a great job on capitalising on a poor decision by Steve Smith to not enforce the follow on.  Did really well with the ball in that 3rd innings and so far done a half decent job with the bat.

Don't expect Woakes to stick around long though and I think the weight of captaincy on Root means I'd be surprised to see him bring up the ton as well.

England will probably get within 100 runs of the target but 350 is just too big a chase - especially away.

Hopefully Cook can up his game in the 3rd test because he has been dismal so far.

Wouldn't it be great if we had Ben Stok...

Kidding ;D, but we've made a gane out of it. 185 runs is a big ask. I'll say it again though, I think Bairstow not Ali should be coming in next. Bairstow the more traditional, Ali better with the tail.

Woakes is a very good batsman and as capable as anyone left to hang around and support Root.  Did well in the first innings and if he gets his eye in I reckon he'll hang about a bit tomorrow.

Still a tall order but the last few days cricket have been fantastic.  The rest of the series needs an England win tomorrow.

Going to be tough, root needs a big 100 with the rest chipping in, just can't see if though especially against the second new ball

Same here. I'll probably set the alarm for 6ish and see they've bombed their last 6 wickets for 50 runs.

As soon as Root goes, and lets face it he has used up his 9 lives the rest will crumble as per normal.

They can, its 50s from here on in each of Root, Ali and Bairstow at the end of the day.

The Cricviz predictor gives us a 20% chance and I'd go along with that.

First of all Woakes and Root need to make a partnership and sebd a nessage to the dressing room that theres nothing to fear.

Like you say we could well wake up tomorrow to find we've folded in a heap

We folded then. Convinced Bairstow and Ali are in the wrong spot in the lineup and the scorecard kind of proves it. Bairstow is a lot more consistent IMO and you dont want his potential runs being lost due to being stranded.

Thats why Stokes is a big loss for us. The whole teams balance is effected by it.

You'd have to say series over but England have held their own and had their chances, just had 1 or 2 disastrous days in between that have cost them, and tgeres no doubt the batting lineup is very weak.

What England don't want to do is lose to this lot 5-0.

Didn't really need to be a fortune teller to predict this.

      Nah.

Even if they only get another 50 then they'd still win by 120-150

It was never going any other way, anyone else who thought so was deluding themselves.
There's nearly 150 years worth of records to back up that England would get no where near a 350 chase last up

We lost it on the first day.
Poor decision to put them in, then backed up the  poor decision by bowling like drains.
That first day we were consistently pitching it  meter and a half short
I can't understand that, even if they feel it's a natural length for them to bowl, we have an Aussie coach and a bowling coach from that part of the world.. what the f**k are they doing not telling them that a natural length on there was pitched up.
The Aussies were pitching it about 5.8m from the stumps first innings, we were at about 7.3m from the stumps
