Liverpool 5-0 Swansea City: In game and Post Match discussion
      Dec 26, 2017 04:30:42 pm
I hope all of you had a great Christmas Day with friends and family. We face the Swans at Anfield, the first game of a three game run in six days.

      Line-up:

      Anfield:

      Team comparison:

Liverpool: Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Klavan, Robertson, Can, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Coutinho, Salah, Firmino

Substitutes: Karius, Lovren, Gomez, Milner, Lallana, Mane, Solanke

Swansea: Fabianski, Olsson, Mawson, Fernandez, Naughton, Carroll, Mesa, Fer, McBurnie, Ayew, Routledge

Substitutes: Sanches, Nordfeldt, Rangel, Clucas, van der Hoorn, Dyer, Abraham

      Statistically speaking...

Philippe Coutinho and Simon Mignolet are in line for their 200th Liverpool appearances.
Should Mohamed Salah score three times in the remaining two games of 2017 he will set a new club record for most goals in a season before New Year. He has scored 21 currently, two behind Roger Hunt's tally of 23 set in 1961-62.
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 10 Boxing Day home games since losing 1-0 to Manchester United in 1986

Can't actually believe he's starting Mignolet again.

Agree.  Time to give up this Mignolet loyalty thing.  Karius isn't amazing but he's a better keeper than Mignolet.  Really feel this is a sign of massive pig ignorance from the manager - not impressed.

Having said that - up the reds!

How do we know how sh*t he is has he even played 2 consecutive games for us yet?

We know for a fact Mignolet is sh*te.

I'm assuming Klopp thinks he is sh*te that's why he doesn't play him instead of Mignolet. I'm not saying I know, just an assumption

Or maybe Achterburg prefers Mignolet and Klopp blindly relies on his coaches.

Had enough of Mignolet. I've no confidence in Klopp now after today regardless of the result. Picking Mignolet shows Klopp can't make important obvious decisions.

Maybe it's something we have to get used to with Klopp at the helm, look at how he kept Weidenfeller as his #1 at Dortmund....

I'm starting to think Klopp struggles with change. It could be why his subs are often so late.

Don’t care who the keeper is today. Went 4-1 in the prediction league and we shouldn’t be worrying about this lot. They’ve got nothing for us.

Low risk and possibly high reward keeping Migs in goal. He has a good game and maybe it gives him some confidence and he plays better. If he plays poor we should still win easily and it makes Klopp’s decision easier going forward.

low risk? A balloon would probably save more... We need the balloon back from the Reina days. Only reward in Playing migs is if someone buys him in Jan.

This is premier league, no games are easy.

I do agree with him, it's a game where we should be winning without our GK, so in a way, it is low risk and it would also give some confidence back to Migs for the games ahead.
