Yep watching the Premier League Review show and Neil Mellor was saying after they got their goal, VVD blocked/defended 12 crosses coming into the box, so apart from that one mistake, thought he was very good on the day.

No doubt for me Saturday was his poorest game in red.

It is gonna happen from time to time - part of the problem is people feel the need to summarise a player based on the last thing they did.

Fact is no-one is 100% on form all the time.

This guy is the best centre back in world football at the moment. Not only a great defender, a wonderful player as well. Absolute monster.

      100%

Outstanding recovery this week after his poorest display in red last week.

      Absolutely.

There was a moment in the first half where Eriksen (I think it was) who swung it a ball from the left that took on a wicked curve that should have deceived everyone in red. Not Virgil though as he connected his head to the very apex of the curve and potential danger was averted.

I’m just curious to see how non reds view it. As football fans, we have a tendency to look through rose-coloured glasses and maybe that clouds our judgement. For example, imo Milner is a better player than  Zidane and Messi is a lite version of Salah.

Yeah you're spot on with your comments. Both sets of supporters do it all too often for me. I don't have a set of rose tinted glasses so defo not in that category.  VVD should easily be  top 3 in Premier League,  for me though (( GOD THIS HURTS  ;D ))  currently he's No1.

Reads the game so well and very dominant in the air which i didn't see at Saints. Klopp has had a uncanny nack recently of improving players that have come to your club. Salah still my fav player though but your man catching up...

Any news on the injury? Will be much needed next weekend. Love this guy; the calmest CD we've had since Hansen.

Yesterday, Klopp said it was bruised and not that serious. Would rest him on Wednesday.

Didn't Rodgers say he wanted him before he signed for Celtic and when he signed for Southampton? ;)

Any news on this guy after coming off against Southampton. I think tonight showed how much we rely on him and Gomez.

      Thank You Mr Deeney.

      https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/football/hes-too-big-too-strong-too-quick-and-hes-got-good-hair-troy-deeney-reveals-why-he-hates-virgil-van-dijk/ar-AAAEyGF

Troy Deeney has admitted that he 'hates' coming up against Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk - because he's 'too big, too strong, too quick and too good on the ball'.

The Watford striker, who has scored twice this season to help his side climb to fourth in the Premier League table, is due to face Van Dijk when Jürgen Klopp's high-flying side travel to Vicarage Road on November 24.

But after taking on the £75million defender during a 5-0 thrashing at Anfield back in March, Deeney is not looking forward to going toe-to-toe with him again.

Deeney is pushing for an England call-up after impressing in the early stages of this season
'I've said it many times, I hate him,' Deeney told BBC Radio 5 Live's The Monday Night Club.
'I hate going up against him.

'He's too big, too strong, too quick, too good on the ball, loves fighting, a good head of hair.'

Deeney, who is pushing for an England call-up after a promising start to the season with the Hornets, also joked about Van Dijk's choice of aftershave.

He added: 'One of those guys that sprays on his top as well, so it smells lovely! When he runs past you, it's like 'I can't catch you, but...''

Van Dijk has formed an impressive partnership with Joe Gomez for Liverpool this season and Deeney believes the young Englishman has a big future ahead of him.

'I've said for a very long time that I've got a massive respect for Joe Gomez,' the former Walsall man said.

'He could be England's centre half for the next 15 years. 'He is a beast of a player. And going next to someone like Van Dijk, he is only going to get better.'

... better not do a brand sponsorship for after-shave then. Whats it going to be called ?   V.D. ?

He didn't train yesterday, Klopp has said if he's fit he plays.

Why would he miss training though unless he was missing the game? That was my point.
