It's not about being able to get to the pass that was played, it's about getting in a better position for Matip to actually play the pass. Can didn't give Matip an angle to play the pass. Matip still fu**ed up by playing it though.

I think his point was that Hendo would have already been deeper where he could have received the pass safely, not so far away as Can was. I agree although Matip should have made a better decision given the situation he was presented with.

Pass was woeful too which doesn't help things. However I feel Can wasn't even making himself available which forced an error.

I actually think Can was more at fault for that, as you mentioned, he should have made himself available or drop deeper , but he was just static from what I remember, need to watch it again, only seen it once.
