Roma have reportedly rejected a bid from Liverpool for goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp is keen to sign a new keeper either this month or in the summer, having lost faith in both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.
The pair have both consistently made errors this season and have struggled to stamp their authority on the No 1 position.According to reports in Italy, Klopp has identified Roma keeper Alisson as a key target and has backed up his interest in him with an offer. However, Il Tempo have claimed that undisclosed offer for the Brazil No 1 has been rebuffed by the Serie A side.
Liverpool have already been told to pay £44million if they want to sign Alisson so it is believed their opening gambit would have below that figure.
Roma are already fighting to keep hold of two of their stars this window with Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri seemingly set for a move to Chelsea, and do not want to lose another key player amid a battle for Champions League qualification.
Allison however, is thought to be open to a switch to the Premier League, but remained particularly coy on the matter when quizzed by Sky Italia recently.
'I am happy in Rome,' he said. 'It's always a pleasure to feel that lots of people are monitoring you but my head is focused on Roma. I leave my future in the hands of God.
'In June, maybe we will speak about it again but for now I am concentrated on Roma.
'Together with my team-mates, we have done a great job to not allow the loss of [Wojciech] Szczesny to be felt by the fans.
'I have worked very hard and want to continue along that track.'
