      Linesman fist pumps Spurs penalty
      Feb 04, 2018 09:01:05 pm
Clint linked to this in the match thread. Thought it deserved its own thread. The linesman fist pumps after the ref gives the first pen!

      https://twitter.com/anfieldonline/status/960223070098206722

And here is a clear angle of the 2nd pen, where the same linesman actually overrules the ref's initial decision not to give it -

The guy has to be banned.

Also this video here you clearly hear them both saying they have no idea who touched the ball last, he even says I don't know if he touched it, and Moss, with pressure from how long it's taking, just says I'm gonna give them a penalty to get things moving.... so much for having to be 100% sure.....

You're right ATK. Moss says he doesn't know if he touched it or not, and then just gives it. F**k sake.

( Also, who was the ref in that conversation. The linesman sounds like he's the one reffing the game. )

[ For clarity, I think that first one probably is a pen. But the linesman fistpumping the decision? No no no, not allowed mate. You've shown your colours there. And then the same guy overrules the ref to give the 2nd one, which is clearly NOT a penalty!?! Too blatant. Got to be banned.]

I saw where someone said heā€™s supposedly a Spurs season ticket holder? Surely not? Surely they wouldnā€™t appoint someone to a position like that if heā€™s got known bias.

Football games span across the full week now, with European games, Friday and Monday games, I'm guessing he'll only be working one, maybe two days at most... I mean I believe it's probably bullshit anyway, but I'm sure refs can attend a few games a year if they wanted too.

Even if Lovren did touch the ball heā€™d still be offside, and saw a picture of Lamella offside in the second one.

Both were awful desitions that I wouldnā€™t expect to see even in my countyā€™s league, let alone in the PL.

I know referees make mistakes, but this... Iā€™d get fired if I made ā€œmistakesā€ like this at work.

No it does matter . If Lovren touches it he is onside

No it doesn't, because the whistle should be blown as soon as it leaves the passers foot if the recipient is on an offside position.

Are you sure? How can it make it a second faze of play when it's still the same move  regardless if he touches it?

To make it a second faze he'd surely have to clear it away and it come back in (even immediately )

It does matter. It's the same distinction as  with a backpass. Karius is going for it because he knows it wouldn't be a foul if he handles it.

Seemingly forgotten in all of this is whether Karius actually brought Kane down. If he touches him it is the slightest of touches, but I still haven't seen it.

On the 2nd. ridiculous award as Lamela is making no effort whatsoever to play the ball, he literally sees Virgil starting to kick and jumps into him. Absurdly unfair award.

Once That useless pr**k lover touches it he is onside. I think the question is whether Kane dived or not. He dived after getting the slightest of touches IMo

      No he isnā€™t.

The only way Lovrenā€™s touch DOESNā€™T play him in is if it hits him accidentally.

The only question on the first is if thereā€™s sufficient contact to go down.

Truth is - for me - itā€™s one of them youā€™re outraged if not given for you and livid if given against.

All depends on where the ball is going . If a player is wide and in offside position and ball goes somewhere he wouldnt be flagged offside. Why was Salah not offside for first goal

Whether the first one is the right decision or not is beside the point.

The point is the linesman fist pumped after it was given, clearly showing bias, and then took it on himself to give a 2nd one that definitely was not a penalty.
