In Serie A, one of the leagues with the foresight to implement the refereeing revolution, a player was spotted spitting at an opponent, out of sight of the ref. Not really the smartest thing to do though with VAR around though. The ref was duly alerted to the incident, so he could apply the automatic punishment for the offence. That's why VAR is in place, cleaning the crap out of our game. Literally in that case.
In the EPL however, you can still get away with such offences, on the day at least, if the ref doesn't see it at the time.
