A warning to all reds travelling out to Rome, looks like the Italian bizzees will be trying to lift our lads any little thing.

      Be careful indeed guys.

The shameful Italian media, in the attempt of save roma from heavy UEFA sanctions, have passed the message that English fans have provoked roma fans in Liverpool. And that "barbarians are arriving in rome". The same message came from a member of Italian police (a roma fan actually, strangely enough...). They are now desperately looking for some episode to show that they were right.

Read an interesting article this morning about their treatment of Dundee in the semi and then our fans after the 84 final. Truly despicable and deliberate systematic failure from their fans and relevant authorities! Hope our fans are ok tomorrow!

Anyway, here we are (me and me son) in Milan from Gatwick.
      M23 shut.
I forgot me passport at Purple Parking
      EasySh1te late taking off.
Missed our interconnecting flight to Rome.
      No flights til 7pm.
Cost us €122 EACH to get to Rome from a different airport!
Going well so far. All we’ve seen so far are feckin airports.
      Think a cheeky 2-2 win for us🤣

The Italian police say they can ''guarantee'' the safety of LFC supporters if they ''stay within the rules''.
As HR says the best policy is keep your head down and stay squeaky clean, make sure the bizzies can't lift you for anything.

Maltese Liverpool fans are going for this match since we're close to Italy plus we know the language quite fluently. Our Liverpool fans president advice the fans to not wear red until being near the stadium and do not drink alcohol on the streets.

Our Maltese ambassador in Italy advised to have identity on the person all times.

Come on Reds, we need to beat these violent bas**rds.

"stay within the rules", like not beating anyone half to death, glad they're not in the World Cup.

I fear, that no matter what the Liverpool fans do, there will be trouble, as Roma, and the police just seem to allow away fans to be beaten up.

The Italian media seem to set the tone for the police and the Roma fuckwits, with the horrendous attack on one of our supporters outside Anfield the eyes of the world and EUFA are now on Roma and the Italian authorities.
If the trip to Rome goes without incident off the field it can only benefit the outcome of the game for LFC.

Hope you have a great time that passes without fuss both on and off the field. That said, it is worth reading this if you haven't!

As posted the eyes of the world and EUFA will scrutinise events at Roma and unlike previous fixtures police brutality and the actions of murderous fans will be closely monitored.
Football's ruling bodies are now forced to come down harshly on the Italian fuckwit supporters, their previous inactivity concerning the atrocious conduct of the Roma Ultras is to blame for recent events - and they know it.

Has anybody else been listening to the amount of advice on offer in recent days and contemplated the same as me - jeez it's like we're travelling to a war-torn country.

I don't think I've ever heard so much information about attending an away game in the club's entire history.

While I agree it is probably needed it only proves to me what serious issues they have over in that country.

I'm in Italy this summer for a family wedding and was thinking I'd take the lad to Rome for a couple of days at the end because I'd never been but after all this I think I'll just head back home with the missus.  Sounds like a F***ing nightmare place - don't go near this bridge, don't go near that.  Sounds like it's more than a minority of their fans if I'm being honest.

No, if you're a tourist in Summer, you will be fine if not wearing any football shirts. Do not go to their suburbs. Rome as a city is stunning. The only catch being a tourist is that you will pay more than the locals for food etc.

And yet I still doubt that will happen. Boo the Champions League anthem and they'll be quick to react but when it comes to racism and fan violence, they'll turn a blind eye.

Don’t suppose anyone knows if the “Safe Zones” are just for marshalling supporters WITH tickets or a kind of Fanzone with screens or designated pubs?

      Quote from JD
Has anybody else been listening to the amount of advice on offer in recent days and contemplated the same as me - jeez it's like we're travelling to a war-torn country.

I went on an away European trip to Belgrade with my local club some years back. Their fanbase have a difficult past as well, and we were often reminded about it. Much of the advice mirrored what our fans have to put up with now in Rome. There was less than 50 of us on the trip, yet thousands of police officers were at the stadium, and as is standard practice in Serbia nowadays, foreign football fans are observed and escorted around from the moment they land in the airport. When we got to the stadium, the place resembled Robocop. In the end there was no incidents, we won the game, and their fans applauded us out of the ground.

I doubt we'll get the same reception in Rome, but the trip was already going to be hostile enough before last week. Now that one of our fans is critically ill in hospital atm, that alone is going to raise tensions. The fans will be at best inconvenienced, and they'll need the patience of job to put up with the security. But hopefully they'll all be fine and will have another happy journey from Rome to look forward to.

      Before the match:

If you are reaching the stadium on your own, perhaps walking, the safest route is actually through the pedestrian bridge Ponte Milvio. The other bridge, Ponte Duca d'Aosta, will instead bring you right beside asroma gathering point (where most stabbings occurred). Do not wear any LFC colour until you reach the stadium area.

If you plan to use public transportation to reach the stadium, the easiest way is to catch tram number 2 from Piazzale Flaminio (underground line A stop Flaminio). Get off one stop before the final stop, and you'll be very close to Ponte Milvio. Again, the tram will be packed with asroma fans, so do not wear any colour.

      After the match:

That's when most problems occurred in Rome, with asroma fans ambushing other fans in the streets just past Ponte Milvio. It happens very often at derbies, as the police line to separate the fans (asroma forced to go through Ponte Duca d'Aosta, and Lazio fans through Ponte Milvio) usually ends before the bridge. Again, if you are on your own be very watchful and do not wear colours.

Whenever something bad happens it always gets labeled as a ‘minority’, but it’s the same story again and again. It can’t be a minority.

Hope all the lads out there stay safe.

Most surprised that Rome Police reckon a lot less than 5000 kopites will actually show up for the game.

Ahh thank goodness those Roma Fans Italian Police are giving assurances. Nice of the Italian Police to make it clear as long as Liverpool fans respect the rules. I guess Roma fans must be saints.  :f_doh:

Can you imagine FA saying in a match Eng v Ger, no trouble as long as Germany respect the rules? It is pretty much what this Italian said with Liverpool v Roma.

Their stance is clear, if something happens blame travelling fans. I think UEFA need to be made aware.
