To the eight "fans" who voted top four, all I can do is laugh!
What is the point in qualifying for the Champions League if your aim is to just keep qualifying and not winning!
Are ye Arsenal fans in disguise???
I'm not one of the 8, but how can you not understand the logic? Look at it from the perspective of -- what would be more damaging to our long term goals? Failing to win the CL final, or failing to qualify for the CL next season? Failing to win the final would neither help nor hurt us. Failing to qualify could be catastrophic as it would cripple our appeal to transfer targets and strengthen the appeal of one of our rivals (Chelsea).
If we want to sign players who are being recruited by other teams like Bayern, Madrid, City, and Barca, then we have to be able to offer them the opportunity to consistently play in the CL.
Winning the final obviously trumps all, but if we are trying to solidify our status as annual trophy contenders (both domestically and on the continent) then we need to be playing in the CL every year.
