Studge will likely be injured (and I would also question whether he is good enough to be our main striker for a sustained period) Solanke is a million miles from the required standard and I'm not sure if Brewster will even be fit until a month or two into the season. If Bobby gets a bad injury Salah would be the only lng term option for me. Look at our rivals, City can call on Aguero and Jesus to play as a 9. The Manx's have Lukaku, Sanchez and Rashford.

I do worry that a bad injury to Firmino could derail us. The drop off in quality to the other players is HUGE and I'm not sure how we would go with Salah in the 9 shirt for a sustained period. It's nto that he couldn't do it, I'm sure he'd do well but obviously he has been incredible coming in off that right hand side.

Mane can also play the striker role.

One of the reason I want us to sign Pulisic is he can cover both wings if Mane or Salah needed to play centrally.

He can but you don't want him playing there for 2-3 months in the event of an injury. If we're serious about a title challenge I don't like the idea that the cover for your number 9 in the event of injury is a bunch of players who can do a job in that position. The Manc clubs won't be taking that chance. I don't see why should we?

To be fair, the 2 you mentioned for United aren’t exactly natural number 9’s, Rashford and Sanchez, and are best suited to playing off the striker. I certainly wouldn’t imagine their goal tally was much higher than Mane let alone Mo last season.

I think we have addressed the important gaps in our squad over the last 6 months - GK, CB, DM & CM. We could talk all day about if Allison, VVD, Robbo, Firmino etc were to get injured but we don’t have unlimited funds and can’t have a like for like replacement in each position, as nice as it would be. More than happy with Sturridge as a back up if he can stay fit (I know it’s a big if). But Firmino has done a good job of staying fit and injury free, so let’s hope he keeps that up.

And every team with big stars will suffer some if they are injured. You can't completely cover for that, but I think we have improved our depth, through incomings, retention and hopefully some rehabbed veterans and emerging youth.

One other thing about the midfield, I think a trio of Fabinho, Henderson and Keita (if he's OK) will be a fairly common selection this season.

One other thing about front line depth, I think we will see a lot more of Solanke this season than we might expect, with Firmino playing behind him.

I think Klopp is adding extra runners to break the lines this season.

By that I mean players capable of and comfortable with carrying the ball forwards from midfield, to create space for the front 3.

We've seen Lallana do it in the past, but it's not his best attribute.
We saw Ox do it last season very effectively.
We saw Can do it pretty well.

However, in Keita, Klopp has added another dimension, which is his ability to win the ball back and transition very quickly into opposition territory, either by passing or by running with the ball, and creating space for others to exploit.

I haven't seen much of Fabinho, but if he is converted from a RB, then he should also be capable of it.

Henderson is capable of it, but as the deepest midfielder in recent seasons, has had limited opportunities.

So we now have 2 possibly 3 strong midfield runners, meaning that 2 banks of 4 or 451 or whatever, closely packed is less of an option for bus parkers, because they will have to come out or risk being pressed back further and further.
Add our front 3 to this, and the way they use movement, speed and guile to create space, and I think we'll have a few more goals from midfield this season.
The capture of Alisson, who apparently we had been talking to for months, with his nifty footwork and accurate passing both long and short, shows one of Klopp's long term tactics, and that is to spend most of our time in the opposition half, continuing to press and win the ball higher up more effectively, and the use of strong runners to stretch play, and create space.

That's before we even mention the fullbacks  :D

If the new lads gel quickly, this could be an excellent season.

Iam very happy that we have a  goalkeeper at last,I don't  need to worry  about the midfield  we are fully covered in this area   ,the front three will get us the goals I just pray that they will be available for the full season. I just wanted a  CB but  it seems  is not going to happen  ,overall  I am happy with the team can't wait for the season to start.

But could Klopp go with this front 6...............Hendo... Nabby....Shaqiri...Salah ...Bob...Mane.

Once Coutinho went Salah played more in the old inside right position with TAA overlapping down the right. Could Shaqiri play right wing, his natural position with Bob and Mo, Mane out left.

Nabby attacking midfield with Hendo holding. Very attacking but we want to be positive.
