Look at all the league winners United had... there’s been great players and beyond terrible players, it’s a squad game, and Shaqiri bridges the gap between a world class Mo Salah and a barely fit Adam Lallana. It’s an upgrade in our squad and from all reports he backs himself as more than that... I’m looking forward to how he mixes this up.

      Dear Xherdan

First off Welcome to Liverpool Football Club

A few years ago I was very excited at the prospect of you coming to Liverpool.

Inexplicably, you decided to go to Stoke and I seriously questioned your ambitions and and I thought f**k you, if that's where you want to be, you don't deserve to play at a Club like ours.

It was only in the last few days where I read a headline saying, you wanted to come to us but Pep Guardiola blocked the move.
( Couldn't be arsed reading the whole article).

All I can say if that is the case, I'm glad you are now here, I look forward to watching you put on the Red Shirt, I'm excited that we have a free kick specialist in our squad now, I have no idea where you will fit on the pitch but just ask that every time you get a chance, try and make something magical happen.

      Regards

In with a chance of getting some minutes at the end of the upcoming Man Utd game.

Only had a couple of weeks off so can't see his fitness being much altered since the World Cup.

That's an interesting analysis, thanks. I also agree its a very low risk signing with plenty of upside and almost no downside. Personally I think he'll surprise a lot of people and will be played more than some think.

I like the look of our new number 10.

Seems like he has some very high footballing intelligence from the movements, awareness and quick passes he made. Very  very very impressed!!!

The big question is can he top that goal in the season for real?? It will take some doing, it was a spectacular strike.

I said from the start that he has all the tools to be a great player, the only question mark was his attitude.
Well it all looks good so far, what a debut and impact!

His technique for the goal was sublime. Not that we didn’t know he has this kind of ability! He is an extremely gifted footballer and now appears ready to flourish at a higher level on a consistent basis — bundles of ability, the desire to play at the highest level and the right fit for the team we are building. Ours for just £13m. Incredible really. You just know he’ll get more opportunities to score wonder goals in this team.

What made me laugh about the Neville comments is that they know full well that we are light years ahead of them as an attacking outfit. They doubtless would've taken Shaqiri if it weren’t for the fact that they know their dullard of a manager would’ve stifled the life out of him.

Everything being viewed in context (pre season, fitness,  one game, etc.) not much more he could have done. A goal and an assist. Linked up well, had the right ideas and understanding of what we were about. Things that will only get better and more natural the more time he has with Jürgen and the lads.

      Well in Xherdan lad!

Boss goal, an assist too. That’s why Klopp has taken a gamble on him, people still think it’s not worth the gamble at £13mill? Never write a player off because he’s come from a terrible team, becomes completely different when Klopp gets them.

That's what the lad is capable of, that's why the vast majority here thought it's literally a no brainer at 13m. Long season ahead, let's hope he keeps his head, puts in the hard work and keeps playing at the top level he can. Will be very interesting.
