As soon as Henderson is fully fit, after mostly missing pre-season, he'll be a starter.

My guess is that Milner will make way, with Gini playing further up, and Henderson as the deepest.

When Henderson starts the press, and charges upfield, Gini will drop in to cover him.
PM, this is what I see as well rather than Gini as #6. Even the other night I thought this worked better, not Gini was a problem there.

I would keep the same XI as the past two weeks unless there is a fitness issue, no need to shake things up as things are been working good so far. As the key to a lot of games for us we can get a goal or two early to open things up we give ourselves a great chance for 3 points.

I don't think it worked better, nor did it lessen us. Hendo came on 67th min for a tiring Milner after we weathered the storm, and 74th min, they had 10 men, so our midfield had more space to operate in. Was kind of surprised we didn't dominate them when they went down to 10 tbh.

Also, when Hendo plays the 6, how much of it will change the way we have been playing in pre-season and the last 2 competitive games? Not that change is a bad thing, but we have been more patient and controlling in possession, and with Hendo as the 6, it would be more direct/forceful? We all know how he likes to play the Hollywood balls to switch the play or behind the lines often, but he lacks composure to play in tight spaces and is unprogressive in his short ball distribution compared to Wijnaldum and Fabinho.

At the moment, the way I see it, I would rather we do like for like rotations,  so, Keita/Lallana (or even Shaqiri!), Fabinho/Wijnaldum (#6) and Milner/Hendo (#8), that way, I think we will still keep the same function and chemistry in midfield.

Interesting. Not sure yet what Fabinho's best role is, and of course we have players who can serve in more than one role. Think Lallana may struggle to see much time this season...Father Time and all that.

He will be sold next summer. If Fekir is still available we will get him.

Fekir will never come here. If we still wanted him it would have been done in June.

Hendo for Milner the only change in my mind but only for fitness. Wouldn’t be upset with the same team.
I did think we missed something in front of the back 4 against CP but Joe and Virgil were so good that it didn’t hurt us.

Wouldn't completely rule it out unless you've been directly told this by Jürgen?  ;)

"Defensively it was absolutely OK, [but] I was not too happy with our offensive play. The rhythm was not good, timing was not good, both full-backs need to be involved much more and open up their game a little bit so we really have different options. They shouldn’t be our No.10s but they are an option, so that was not too cool."

We don't have a shortage of number 10s, why not get them on the pitch, Brighton will be parking the bus anyway?

So no width at all then or will Lallana and Shaq play as wingers? The current system with 4 at the back is working fine, no need to change it, the full backs just need to be better than they were against Crystal Palace. I think this could be the game when it clicks back into place, if it is then I expect a BIG score line to us because Manure really made Brighton look a lot better than they really are.

If there's space in wide areas I think Lallana and Shaqiri have the football intelligence to exploit it, who would you rather have on the ball with time and space to hurt the opposition?

Love the bones of him, but it seems Alexander Arnold is getting into the bad habit of stopping and then passing back, rather than attacking the full back and crossing. The boss should coach him more in crossing the ball properly as per Robbo.

So, a radically different setup than anything we've done since Jürgen has been here? All because we didn't score more at Palace?

I'd rather use our Full backs, TAA and Robertson, to provide width, penetrating runs and crosses, they are both capable of doing it very well.

Jürgen will play with the same squad. But I hope once the rotation forces him to play several combinations, Jürgen will soon realize that neither Milner nor Gini deserve their starting role. Shaq and Henderson look more vertical to me, while Milner and Gini slow the game down. In our game against CP we did fall back to our old habits from the last seasons, that is to play too horizontally. We need more zip towards the box.

we know we will do well in the big games City and Spurs etc but games against the likes of Brighton are a good test of how solid and disciplined we have become.
