7 Matches in 22 Days - Rotation Ideas
      Aug 31, 2018 01:36:20 pm
So after the break we begin a 22-Day stretch on the 15th against Spurs. We also play twice vs. Chelsea, Champions League matches vs. PSG and Napoli, home vs. Southampton and our first showdown with City. There's never more than a few days between matches which is great for fans but tougher on players.
A lot has been said about improved depth and now will be the time to use it. I still think there is a pretty big dropoff between the first XI and the rest, so I would like to see Jürgen go with more backups on the 22nd vs Southampton and keep our strongest group intact as much as possible for the other six games. These three weeks can go a.long way toward defining our season.

How would you all like to see Klopp handle lineups?

      Spurs 1-2 LFC
      LFC 3-2 PSG
      LFC 3-0 Saints

Obviously we aren't putting full team in league cup. Bow out early and send fringes on loan.

Bring it on I love watching us play these days - I don’t think outside of 1 half of Manchester and 1 half of north london many fans can say the same.

Jürgen will protect our players as much as he can

      Yeah, I mis-read , sorry.

Anyway, we can't really afford to rest, Salah, Mane, VVD, Robertson and Alisson, can we? Only way to rest them would be to take them off early in matches if we are ahead by at least, 2 goals. I also think the #6 role should be the least rotated.

I think we can get away without Firmino if Sturridge is fit and able to go. Clyne for TAA isn't so bad, Lovren for Gomez and  maybe if we became desperate, Matip for VVD?

To the extent you identify a starting XI, I think you have to leave out every one of the outfield players once during those 7 games. You can spread that out or do other at once against the weakest opponent.

We are gonna be tested next 2 months, 5/7 intensive games vs exceptional/world class teams.

Only time to give our strongest players a rest may be vs Chelsea in the league cup and Southampton at home.

See, I want to WIN the League Cup. Maybe when we get back to winning.regularly we can downplay it, but we still haven't won a trophy in some time.

Its class. A game every 3 days against for the most part quality opposition.

Roataion wise look we could pick up knocks so hard to say.

Id like to think ee could rest 2 of the front 3 v southampton and still be too strong.

Allison play the lot. Clyne in v saints and league cup Matip likewise. Fabinho for me plays both champ league games and v saints and cup v chelsea. Ghink his experience v PSG will be helpful and his game style away at Napoli. .

Id expect our main 18/20 bar the keepers to play at least 2 of tbe 7 games.

Not certain it will be moved, we had 2 games that close together at one point last season.

A tough schedule but I disagree that we don't have depth, that is precisely what we do have now, we'll be fine with those games as remember that it will be a tough schedule for Chelsea as well and I'd argue that our squad is probably stronger than theirs.

I'd imagine we are going to need our best 11 for 5 out of the 7 games. The games against Southampton and Chelsea (EFL cup) I'd expect some rotation. I suppose it's down to fitness and injuries also but that's what I would be looking at.

We need to put in a good showing in the CL because that means money. What percentage of importance the manager will put on CL and League is anyone's guess but for me getting to the quarters or semis would be adaquate if it means we are going to put in a serious challange for the league. We have got a better squad so maybe Klopp thinks we need a trophy so that would make EFL and FA cup more of a priority than the CL maybe.

Yup. Should be 23 days (although the span from kickoff match 1 to full time match 7 is 22 days and 6 hours).

      You'll get over it.

I would not for this opponent. If we had drawn a Championship or League One side,  maybe. But as Jürgen always says, it is not about resting players it is about picking the team that gives itself the best chance of winning (meaning freshest, I take it).

With a stronger squad, than last season. The Reds, should be able to deal, with the situation, by taking one game at a time.
