Adam Lallana is handed his first start of the season in midfield, while Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge begin in attack at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Virgil van Dijk, James Milner and Mohamed Salah are all fit to take their places in the XI after injury concerns.

Bout the same as Sturridge.

Glad to see Lallana back much more effective link when on form obviously going to be a bit rusty and sure won't last 90 but hope he makes a good impression. Not sure TAA has done but rather have Gomez at CB but tbf to lovren did well last time out

I think we will win, but I'm not expecting anything from Lallana today.. if he gets a long run in the side then he'll be good again in 3 or 4 games, but it only takes a few games to be injured as well.

Looks like Jürgen is mindful of who played midweek, thinking ahead to fixture list, keeping bench players from rustiness. I wonder if this is his preferred back four .

Really hope Adam makes an impact today because it can only be good to have a player of his ability available for the first time in almost 10 months.

Was the master of the press until he got injured. I'd say this time two years ago when we were playing brilliantly at this time of the season, he was the most important player for us.
