We could have been out there for hours and never found the back of the net.

Games like tonight you don't need players who press and harass the opposition, you need somebody who can put their foot on the ball and make a pass, have a shot and test the keeper or dribble and charge forward with the ball.

Completely agree. What a weird line up, looked the ideal game for a Fabhino/Keita/Shaqiri midfield, as they were always going to have a bus behind the ball and look to hit on the break.

Didn’t even realise that a PSG win means if we beat Napoli at home then we’re through.

That would be the Fabinho that was out of his depth against Arsenal, a Keita that's failed to impress so far, and a Gini that's gone missing the last two games on the trot? No thanks. What we need is Hendo back and give Shaq a run of games.

It's one thing to criticise the team's performances this year but some people have gone way over the top. Tonight's team might not have been great, and may have lead to defeat but it was still more than good enough to beat this Belgrade side and no one was kicking up a stink before kick off when the team was announced. In fact the general consensus was that this would be a good game to rest players in which is precisely what Klopp did. I'll criticise the team for its performances this season but people claiming Klopp can't pick a team need to get a grip.

Yep think may see a complete different midfield Sunday . Hendo,Shaq and Keita for me

Let's hope Salahs form last season wasn't a flash in the pan

      We could swap him...

I keep reading that compared to last season we're much better of at this stage. This is only partly true. The results and stats are indeed better. We played much better in the first 2 months last season though. We were creating chances for fun. Our defence just let us down but the performances were very good. It was just a matter of time before the results were coming which happaned after the Brighton game iirc. This season it's the complete opposite. Hopefully we won't go on a bad run but start clicking at some point. I think a lot(!) of things have to change before that happens

Sadly that result has been coming for a while now and it was only a matter of time before we got found out for playing how we are.

It was another toothless performance where we didn't threaten much or do enough on the ball and unfortunately for us, our defence were unable to keep the opposition out this time.

The starting 11 was ok. It's not what I'd have gone with personally but it was still strong enough to do the job and get a result out there.

Within ten minutes you could see that we were struggling though. The balance didn't look right and the football was dire in truth. Sturridge missed a sitter but other than that we didn't create a sausage.

1-0 down from a corner which was just a shambles to be honest. Nobody followed the strikers run and then he went unchallenged before heading his team infront. It was proper schoolboy, pathetic marking that. Not what you expect in a champions league game.

The second goal was even worse. Milners pass inside to Wijnaldum was awful to get dispossessed, but then gini let their striker go past him far too easily. It was a half hearted attempt from gini to win the ball back and I counted at least two times where he could have brought him down and took a yellow for the team but instead let him go on and shoot. The centre halves could have perhaps closed him too and I think Alisson could have done better as well.

2-0 down from just stupid school boy stuff. It was actually embarrassing.

Second half starts and we make a couple of changes. Again, not the changes I'd have made personally but I'm glad klopp was trying to do something different because the first half was just truly abysmal.

Our football improved and it was one way traffic but if we're being honest, we could still be playing out there now and we wouldn't have scored. They were happy to sit back and defend their lead and we couldn't find a way through.

Its games like today where you realise how poor our midfield options are. Our centre mids (apart than Keita) are ALL better WITHOUT the ball than they are WITH the ball. Milner, gini, Can last season, Henderson and even Lallana all have high energy levels and they all press the opposition well but they all lack quality on the ball.

Games like tonight you don't need players who press and harass the opposition, you need somebody who can put their foot on the ball and make a pass, have a shot and test the keeper or dribble and charge forward with the ball. We just don't have that.

The balance in midfield is all wrong and klopp needs to make changes for the weekend.

The issue you pointed out about MFers on ball will be our downfall. Awesome post dawg

Gutless, pathetic and embarrassing. Not something I expected to be saying this season on the back of spending best part of £200mill in the summer.

Like I said about a week ago, the days of Lallana are gone.

Put ourselves in a difficult position when we should have just wrapped up the qualification now.

Thought we lacked ideas in how to score.

Worryingly kept seeing us swinging the ball in for crosses, fine if you have Alan Shearer up front. We do not.

Don't shoot me down but Coutinho could have done a job tonight. oh, and Henderson really makes a difference to our midfield momentum, sadly lacking also tonight

A Win from us and a MANC upset would make a lot of people forget about today!!!

its a crazy situation really but we all know we have been misfiring at times and its time to stop messing about get the new lads into the team to bring some freshness because even at this early stage we look stale

Shocking performance, but its been coming. Our midfield is just shocking/slow/no creativity.

We are missing Fekir type of player and Ox. Don't know why Klopp change defense line today and put Lallana in x11.

One positive is PSG winning atm..Hope it stays that way...With draw, we need 2 goals win over Napoli.

Is PSG win, yes. We're currently one point ahead of Napoli.

Going down to the final game V Napoli at home.

But tonight just off the pace all round. Somebody from this midfield squad has to show some leadership. Klopp as well, Salah needs resting. Shaq should come in and add a bit of determination, effort. The front three look like they have forgotten the basics.Just turn up and it will happen...it wont.

Next 5 league games, Fulham,Watford,Everton,Burnley,Bournemouth, should yield at least 13 pts...if not the full 15. There may be trouble ahead..

Regardless of their result, two points from the final two games sees us qualify. If PSG win then a win against Napoli and a Draw against PSG sees us go through top. If Napoli win then we need to beat them and draw against PSG.

I don't think PSG would enjoy that atmosphere tonight either so a few twist left in this group.
Just wondering if the late game on Saturday a tough one and all the travelling made a difference tonight because we did look jaded not only in body but in mind.
Maybe this would be a good time to start really getting behind Jürgen and the lads rather than pulling everything apart
