I must say that after getting our defensive personnel more sorted, and after adding more depth to our squad this year, I thought we'd be able to continue playing our exhilirating high intensity football from last year, but without dropping all those points against lesser teams and without getting jaded by the end of the season.
But now that it's been a few months into the season, it doesn't look like the clear drop in intensity is temporary or completely situational. I think it's a deliberate longer term approach, and I'm guessing Klopp and his coaching staff believe it is the most successful approach to get the right balance between player fitness and results throughout the whole year.
Without personally having access to the players and the data to see just what an effect playing last year's intensity has on them throught the year and beyond, it's hard to fairly be too critical of it.
But boy, a bit of me is dying inside, knowing the kind of football we could be playing. To be honest, as much as I'm also dying to win the PL again, I'd never be disappointed if we played with the intent of last year most of the time moving forward (but without the Karius and Lovren blunders of course) and each year just seeing where that endeavour takes us.
Thank F**k we're not playing like Man U at least though haha
