      Nathaniel Clyne (Bournemouth - loan)
      Jan 04, 2019 12:42:15 pm
Clyne is a specialist RB and when fit a good one so until Trent is fit I think he is a shoe in and it gives Trent time to get himself right

Well... he's off to Bournemouth on loan.

Klopp really doesn't rate him highly.

Makes zero sense unless 1 lined up. Trent wont stay fit all season. Then were down to Gomez who mydt be in beside VVD and Milner, or the kids.

on skysports now mate. I guess he is happy with Trent, Gomez and Milner options at RB at the moment.

Don't want to see Gomez anywhere near right back again.

Shouldn't be any need to move him out there, need to keep him in the centre where he has been excelling.

I never rated him to be honest. a very one dimensional player who isn't a good footballer. He might be defensively better than TAA but with the way Klopp plays we need full backs who are good with the ball. Clyne is more of an athlete.

Probably looking good for Joe in terms of injury if Klopp let Clyne leave at this stage of the season.

Was it the United game he played.  Thought he did alright.

Letting players out on loan when we're actually trying to win three competitions makes me nervous.

Not massively concerned. He barely got a look in last season when fit.

Did really well against United but I suspect it might mean seeing bit more Fab / Naby in middle with Milly spelling Trent at RB.

Unless Clyne is a disruptive influence what the F**k is the idea behind this form Klopp. You never know when injuries hit and he is a player who could play RB and even LB at a push. really weird decision and I pray this doesn't bite us in the arse.

      Agreed.
If it hadn’t been for injuries he wouldn’t have even played that 1 game this season.
I don’t rate him at all so I can’t say I’m bothered. I remember a couple of people getting hot under the collar because I said he’s likely to only play 1 game, although I was expecting that to be the FA Cup.
Can’t see how it’s likely to backfire on us, he’s barely ever in the matchday squad so it shows his value to the team. We have Trent, Gomez, Milly and Fab who can all play there

Can see him doing alright at Bournemouth though, think it’s a good move for him.

good point about FA cup, I hope we don't pick up an injury against Wolves. Could really screw up our league campaign.

And Rafa Camacho who has been in and around the first team squad in recent months  who I'd imagine will start right back at wolves Monday

The young Dutch kid looks a real talent too

I agree I find the Clyne move a strange one but I'd had him pencilled in mind for Robbo cover to be honest

I would be surprised if he starts/plays, I think he is off to Lisbon few days after the Wolves match?

      Really? Missed that completely

      Curtis RB at wolves then

Clyne going I wonder if that signals the rumour of the kid from Bristol City coming in? Plays all across the back 4 by all accounts
As did Gomez when we signed him from Charlton.
      6ft 3 as well
      🤷‍♂️

would be nice to have a better option than Moreno as backup to Robertson, but I'd rather us go for something more established.

We have the best left back in the league

How do you get established to buy into being his deputy?

I like developing. If he develops like Joe Gomez then we will be sound for years

Seems to be very similar to Gomez from what I’ve read - maybe a little more developed if anything than Joe was - quick over the ground and good on the ball.

Disappointed in the decision but not surprised, he has a hard time getting on the bench o match day let alone getting much playing time under Klopp this season with Gomez/Milner preferred to him. I would think Cylne wanting to play more football pushed this move more so then Klopp pushing him out the door.

I think he is more a left back (he's a left footer) and is only 5ft 9, so more cover for Robertson tbh.

Weird though PM - I’ve seen him described as c.5ft 10 and 6ft 3 (the latter by Lee Johnson his manager) so watched a bit of video.

He’s definitely nearer the latter than the former so it may be that Wiki / Transfer Market etc just haven’t updated as he’s progressed and grown.

Agree. If it was me I'd have kept him but Jürgen seems to the type of guy who if you want to leave he lets you go.

Maybe something more to it than we know as well considering how Clyne seemed to be out for no apparent reason reason.

      No your not.

This makes no sense unless we have someone coming in.

He is a top level player and better than TAA defensively as you say.

I find this very strange and we should not be weakening our squad at such an important time.

      Pavard coming in...

That Kelly kid certainly looks over 6ft and his manager has referenced him a few times as 6'3"

It's strange that we are able to loan out a player at this level who 2 season ago was indespensible and is only reaching peak age.

Shows how the team has grown I guess

after last night and having the FA Cup this weekend I would have expected an appraisal of the season and the squad unless this has what has happened . I thought given the lack of playing time he has had he did quite well and it leaves us short of Trent gets another Injury as Milner looked fu**ed last time he played there.

Pavard was France's full back during the world cup who scored one of the goals of the tournament. Not heard of any link to us though.

Don't really get what the point of this was as there's every chance we may have called on him during the season, just as we did against United.

Not a fan of getting rid of players in January. Besides TAA we don’t have any natural full back there do we?

Everyone else who can go there would be a makeshift option. Strand decision unless something has gone on behind the scenes.
